This will be a cool model. I can't imagine the size at that scale. Build on!

Welcome! Your work looks good for a first time effort.

by the way, you can see the instructions on model-expo on the product page under documents.

Looking good Geoff! I like the netting.

Thanks Geoff and 42rocker. The blocks will be tedious so if I do one carronade per day I should be done in 20 days. It might be time to start that side project I've been thinking about to break things up a bit.

Another update. I am continuing to work on deck details. I have finished with the capstan and the mast boots and I'm now assembling carronades. The practicum was really confusing for carronades. It suggested edge gluing 2 pieces of 3/16 stock to make the center piece and then glue the sides to the top of the center piece. The plans show that the side pieces are glued to the edges of the center piece and not the top. Also the centerpiece should be 1/4" stock. I went with the plans. The assembly is pretty straight forward so I won't go into great detail. I have all of them built and painted now and I'm currently adding the casters and barrels. I had a heck of a time finding a color that looked right but settled on what you see in the pictures. I still need to build the ships wheel and will need to rig the carronades. There are 80 blocks that need to be rigged. I need minions to do that stuff. The blocks provided in the kit are a bit large and honestly just look plain ugly, so I will order some replacements. Thats it for now.
These are the parts for the carronades.
Parts with one assembled and painted. My adviser has suggested I leave the brass unpainted since its pretty.
Some partially assembled. You can also see the capstan and one of the mast boots.
The following is my highly technical way of painting a bunch of little things. These are the casters for the carronades.
Two-sided tape on card stock.
Primed.
Painted.

Nice tip Jay. I'll try that out when I start threading threading my blocks.

Ed, just to let you know. A complete selection of your clamps (all of them, plus some taken from Remco) has been made. The marking gauge (in boxwood) has also been made. Building board has been started and I trust to be able to commence the actual building by the beginning of next month. I am of course aware that I won't need volume II for some time, but I can't wait to have it in my hands.
Congratulations and many thanks for your contribution to the ship model community and keep going af fast as you can!
Salvatore
Hope to see your build on here Salvatore. I plan to build the Naiad also.

No problem Ed, it was a good read. So much so that I placed my order for the Naiad framing package. Hopefully I will be able to get a start on it in the fall or sooner.

Your build log will be invaluable as they all are. Welcome!

Wow, thank you so much for the great feedback. As I progress through this first build I am hoping some brave soul will tell me near the end just where my skill level lies so I can better determine how much to bite off for that next build!
you can just do what i did and jump straight in on your second build. I chose the MS Constitution. I've learned a lot from it.

Congrats and well done!

The ship is looking good. Nice to see you have some outdoor space to work in.
-
Thanks for the tips. I imagine I may need a thinner diameter thread also.
-
wow. the kit blocks look huge.
-
Thanks Jay. There is a significant difference in the appearance of the blocks in your picture. I'm getting ready to rig my carronades and thought the blocks in the kit looked a little big.
-
Your Conny looks excellent. Nice to see another log.

I like Occre also. I just picked up the Endeavour and it looks to be a very good kit. There is a seller in Spain that sells it for about a third of what it costs here. They don't have one listed right now but they will eventually.

I did my Constitution hull with copper plates. Whether I do another ship in copper is debatable. I may explore other options as I do like the look of natural wood.

well done! that must have been a lot of work considering that Jim Beam was the beverage of choice.
