    Thanks guys.

Hlipplaa, sorry I must have missed your question, I used holy for planking and castello for the other details for the cutter and the longboat.

So here's how the story goes, the officer of the marines chased off the annoying rat that has been lurking in my ship's hold for the past years. Meanwhile Paddy the calico ship's cat indulged himself on the remaining mice on the ship and fell asleep on the marine offices bed place.

    False Rails

These are decorative boards which sit on top of the Main Rails. They give a little privacy to the aft Seats of Ease. The central portion of these are carved down :

    Aft Seats of Ease

I've also fitted the Aft Seats of Ease. These fit into the space between the false rail and the bow of the ship :

    Cathead Supports

These are quite tricky to make. They curve around between the Main Rails and the Upper Cheek, finishing at the start of the Eking Rail (which comes next).

First I made a card template of the curve, and removed a section of the Sheer Rail and Waist Rail to accommodate them :

To shape these I used a piece of over-thick stock into which I sanded the inner curve on the disc sander, finishing it off with a round sanding stick :

After much dry fitting and adjusting a molding was scraped into the outer face and a scarf joint for the eking rail was cut in. Then I glued the supports in :

Hello, Mick! Thank you for your interest in my work. I hope you do not mind if I answer here. The thickness of the top of the pile does not matter. The main thing that she kept the form and does not limit your actions. Its primary purpose to hold the frames in the correct position during assembly. I used a 6 mm thick plywood.

    Good luck to you.

    Hello everyone.
Here are a few photos of the last month. I allowed myself some liberty and filled the gaps between the square frames. I do not know if that is right with the historical and structural point of view for the frigates, but I saw something similar in the logs for the construction of class sloops "Swan". Of course, in reality it was not so, but our figures are enough simplifications and conventions.
Now I want to make temporary ribbands to align and secure toptimbers then treat body inside.

    Hi everyone,

I just completed fitting the upper deck clamps, from stem to stern. I was reminded of Remco's quote about treating every piece as if it is a model by itself. The last piece had to hook over the helm port transom, and fair into the forward face of the lower counter planking, while twisting from an acute angle forward, to almost vertical at the counter. Many pleasant hours were spent shaping and fitting these... I can also see that the spirketting right under the wing transom is going to be equally fun, as it curves along that knee while sloping back further up.

I had an ah hah moment, which notching the clamp over the helm port transom. To stop the saw cuts at exactly the right depth, I stuck two pieces of wood to either side of the blank with double sided carpet tape. I then clamped this in my vise, and used the wood stops to indicate when to end sawing with the razor saw. I don't know why I did not think of this earlier. It is now in my tool box of techniques.

    Best wishes,

    Mark
