Hey Rob
I love the clock. It perfectly matches the porthole, which, together, just oozes history and charm.
Very nice.
All the best for 2017.
Cheers

W2YSM..(ie).. Picard..
I'm very pleased with the results. If my hands and eyes were 20 years younger...I may have taken another route. That route surely would have included re-engineering something to create the panels..that's for sure.
I tend to settle for things..then I did years ago. One thing remains....I try to inject something ingenious(jab at humour), that makes the build easier to complete.
I truly appreciate the many likes and fine comments.

Rob, isn't it the results that matters and not what was done to get thoose results? Also, are you happy with the results? I would be very happy with the results of the panelling.

Thanks for the holiday salutations.....Popeye. Wishing the best for you and yours this Christmas season as well.
I keep a varied size of mesh screen on hand for such an occasion. It has many applications in the modeling world.
I'll utilize anything in the building of my clippers.

I appreciate that Omega and Tarbrush. I'm always looking for ways to save time and effort and in the end the result is quite convincing.
Wood doesn't always have to be the final choice of building material. And since these panels are 1/8" in size...I found the compromise to tediousness.

I pretty much throw things together..so the kindness shown with all the likes is very much appreciated.
Smaller scale models lend to mimicked detail.....or applied detail. I can get away with many flaws.

Rob you're way too hard on yourself. I think your window/panel technique is a great time saver.
Happy New Year to you and yours!

After this I select screen mesh and paint then cut out the window panes and add them.

Hi Rob,
I am amazed at the fine detail that you are able to do at this small scale. As you do the paneling for your last two cabins could you take more step by step photos of how you do it. It seems like magic to me. love your work!!

Well..I worked a bit on the GR today. First..my image quality was hurting so I figured out I had my camera's white light setting all wrong for the lighting of the room....I adjusted it now things are brighter. The first image is still set on the wrong white light setting. It is of the new Great Republic name board.
All other images are correct.

Hi Rob
You may be going 'small piece by small piece', but when looked upon as a whole model, the overall impression is Wow!
Looking good.

FriedClams reacted to Oystein in SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse 1897 by Mirabell61 - FINISHED - scale 1:144 - POF - first German four stacker of the Norddeutscher Lloyd line
Nice!
I notice your lifebuoys are orange. Do you know if that colour was used this early? (I have no idea myself.)

Hi Oystein,
I`m not definately sure if the lifebuoys around 1900 were in this color, the pics I have unfortunately are in black and white because the color photography came on very much later, I presume that the classic color we know today (red /white) had not been used around turn of the century.
I read it though, that the standard marine safety color was orange. This was also the color of many salvaged rings that are offered by heritage sale houses. Perhaps one of the members knows more precisely....

Hi Gary
Thanks for looking in and for your comments. Greatly appreciated.
Yep-you're right. At this scale, the thickness of materials is an issue, so I'm using a combination of wood, styrene and card in order to make the accommodation as realistic as possible.
All the best!
Cheers
