I did Popeye it looks awesome! wait I used lacquer primer with lacquer thinner and the fumes were awful. I thought lacquer was enamel and enamel was lacquer I thought they were the same thing.

Cog it is the camera, the black is showing through a little to much actually. I know It's not negative criticism Negative criticism would be invited anyway. but ya That's what happens when you use an old Iphone for a camera. I think I'm to shaky to hold a paper mask OC I avoid brushing like its the flu. just because I'm terrible at it. actually in front of me right now is A brush for the blast bags. I'm dreading it. hahaha...hairy stick. Popeye, I just used enamel primer and wow the fumes! I kicked my bird out of the room a minute into it. another wow is the clean up of my airbrush, it's much different. Here is about the best I can get out of my camera for seeing the shading. If you look at the tops you can see it. It looks better in person.

The guns were supposed to be two-tone gray paint job. I started by painting the bottom half the lighter gray. Then the barrels the darker gray but then I realized I could not mask off the bottom half with those delicate railings there. I ended up painting it all the light gray. All that's left now is to paint the blast bags and apply some shading.

I couldn't wait. I wanted to paint tomorrow so I had to do some shading tonite. my girl says It looks like somthing that belongs on starwars.

I basically just primed the barrels which is why I wanted to prime in the first place. I am not a fan of lacquer or in the enamel at all. It smells nasty. And suddenly I had no idea how to clean my airbrush. Are usually use rubbing alcohol but all that did was clump up the paint, so I ended up cleaning it with the lacquer thinner. After all the paint was removed I then cleaned with rubbing alcohol . Also does anybody know how long I should wait before I paint a second coat with acrylic?

Thanks Hoff, It was so difficult because the barrel is tapered the back is much thicker than the front so what I drilled out had to reflect that. I went for the max diameter first , I drilled very very slowly about half way until I felt it was going to break through the sides. then I moved to the smaller drill bit. once the small bit was through the rest of the way I filed the rest sliding the barrel in 20 times to check progress as you don't want to make it to big. just keep in mind this whole thing was super scary and aggravating! the thickness of the side walls in a lot of spots are literally paper thin. Also every blast bag is a different shape. I never want to do that again..wait I still have smaller blast bags for the smaller guns...ugh. It bothered me so much I would never buy another MK1 kit again if I know the blast bags have to be drilled out.

Ok so im ready to prime. I'm just nervous I've never primed before, I never spayed anything other than tamiya acyrlic out of my airbrush. I dont even know how much thinner to mix in. errr its late i will just do it tomorrow. Sorry guys.

So I just got tamiya laquar thinner to use with there surface primer. But I heard the laquar thinner can also be used to thin tamiya acrylics. In fact that its better than the acrylic thinner. Does any have experience with this or know if this is true?

Oliver is trying to figure out what color is best for blast bags white or black. Flory models build uses white.... I leave it up to you Oliver! I matched all the barrells with the correct turrets. now to glue the barrells on. Then plastic putty the holes.

cog I used tamiyas rattle can on the hull. I worry it will be to thick. Im very curious about tamiya surface primer, I hope it airbrushes ok. Also the blast bags have some holes in them so I'm going to use some putty to fill the holes. Then I will brush on "panzer aces white 70.344" and hopefully it looks ok

I have finally hollowed out the last of the big blast bags. Heres a peek at how I did it. All done, thats the shavings from just one blast bag. and finally all 8 Now a trip to the hobby store for supplies. I think I should prime these big guns I just don't know which primer works good with airbrush as I have never primed. I use tamiya paint so tamiya primer would be a safe bet I suppose

Give your sick days to another employee to use?? Wow I like that. popeye we family medical leave to. I think its the law in Massachusetts. I hear you on unwanted changes my union is nagociating a new contract now... hopefully no changes

Holy crap! Close to an entire year of sick time!?! WOW.! For us they will buy your sicktime when I retire for 50 cents on the dollar. Also I forgot to mention if we use 10 or more sick days( days without a Drs note) a year a letter goes into my file. How this effects me i dont know

It hard to deplete sick hours. Im making a real effort though im getting close. I dont know what will happen if I run out. I do know every quarter we get more sick time added.

Same here what ever the doctor says and for how long is what happens. Today he said 7 more days then see me again. I brought the note to my boss and thats that. As for sick time. If its over 5 days for an injury its considered workmans comp, the five sick days will then get put back and workmans comp takes over and gives you 72% of your gross pay tax free for how ever long. The problem this year is it was never 5 days. The face incedent was 4 sick days, then i got phnamonia and the flu which arn't injurys, AND a bunch of single days I called in sick because I am lazy and didnt want to wake up. Thats there fault though, they make it way to easy to call in sick! You dont have talk to anyone. Just leave a message saying " it's so and so can you put me in for a sick day"..click. If i had to talk to my boss and sound sick I probably wouldn't.

CDW ya it smell really bad for me and my asthma acted up for a while after. Lou I think I'm just falling apart at the seams. I started the year with 180 sick hours im down to 32. And i took 3 vacation days and 4 personal days. Thanks for the compliments

Good morning everyone, yes thank god I'm right handed! You never realize how much you need every finger until you don't have one. Even putting on my sneakers is hard. Even with only nine fingers I managed to drill out five blast bags. There is so much oil and dirt on them from my hands. Maybe I should wipe them with alcohol before Painting. some tools of the trade, round files, drill bits and a drill. I gotta say I didn't think this was possible, I'm suprised it worked. Also resin has a very wierd smell when filing and drilling.

So I broke my finger. So I haven't been able to do much lately. It's ironic that now have all this time off of work yet can't really work on the model with a broken finger. i managed to get all the PE on the big gun turrets. Now to drill out all of those blast bags I guess.

So basically I'm done with gun 2s PE. I always love bending PE, I will never get tired of that. but I will always dread glueing on railings. Time for gun 3.

Cog, I will think about it and deal with it next week. I will procrastinate and for now I will concentrate on PE. I guess ill cut out the PE one gun at a time. I cut the first guns PE out. It didnt take to long and it wasnt a pain like I thought. Usually ladder rungs and railings are a huge pain for me.

I dont think i have the skill to make my own. Im not good at scratch building. So im thinking i either spend all weekend hollowing out 7 blastbags or I order more and wait a week. OR i start on the PE this weekend and hollow out 1 a day next week. But those are great ideas!
