I'm unhappy with the ochre on the decorations ,for some reason the primer and paint keep flaking plus it just looks "dull"! After some experiments I went with a product from AK paints called "True Metal" it's a wax based very fine pigment "paint" that you can polish with a cotton bud or soft cloth when it drys for more shine! I've gone with "Brass" because it gives a nice light gold colour which is what i'm looking for. 1st picture is what i normally use it for ,in this case 1/16 tank rounds and the second is the quarter badge for Pegasus.

Stern PE's done ,I decided to go with white instead of ochre ,the ochre just looked too dull and I think the white works better !

Doing some work on the decorations with the quarter badges , they turned out ok but unfortunately one of the pieces with the little loops was missing one ,hadn't broken off there was just nothing there. Used a different blue for the loops just for a contrast to the other colours. bluetacked in place and looks ok!

Quick overview shot ,pegasus has come along way in the last couple of months that in the previous 10 years😎🤣 Fo'csle is glued down now ,non visible gun carriages are all in place ,working on the head stuff ,would be good here if the plans were a little clearer i'm having fun working out what goes where and order of build. Started on the stern windows ,the window frames and pillars really change the look of the piece! ,unfortunately the camera doesn't catch the 3D effect of the pillars very well. Richard

pretty much done with the deck ,some small things to do and they get glued in place then it gets interesting😎 Im really happy with the foc'sle partition, looks pretty good in my humble opinion 🤣! ,and I've started the guns ,still not sure if im going to do all the tackle yet or just the breeching rope, (issue is I had a bad knife accident a few years back that took out the radial artery and nerve at the base of my left index finger ,even with microsurgery and time for the nerve to regrow i dont have feeling at the top and inside of the finger nearest to the thumb..Right where you need to hold things for fine work ,made it interesting trimming and cutting small pieces when i got back to modelling). It's going to be interesting when it's time to start the rigging😒 Richard

Fun with guns! ,have found a slight problem for the swivels ,I dont have small enough wire for the trunnions and yokes ,the holes are teeny but no real rush for the swivels can add them at the end👍 (home made CA applicator at the top ,bit of brass wire in a dowel - got a couple with different shaped tips and clean ups easy just run a flame over the tip and burn off the residue😎)

My sons remind me of this everytime they see some of parts I build either on my Armour models or Ship models ,their most common reaction is "You do this for fun😳"🤣 @Blue Ensign your work is truely beautiful! ,I would love to build the Vanguard Indy one day but I really don't think I could do her justice!

And the nubbins are gone👍 ,funnily it's easier to put the decks in place without them🤣🤣 filling the holes could be a tad annoying ,turns out I dont have any of the silver ash strips I replaced the kits decking with....I hate Murphy

Yeah that's the way I interpreted the instructions too! ,I haven't glued the decks down yet so it was easy to remove the nubbins ,but with them painted black and under the rails their pretty well hidden👍

There are times I hate Murphy! ,bit of an issues popped up in @Knocklouder Pegasus build and it seems in mine too ,there are frame "nubbins" that poke above the quarter and foc'sle decking - there is no mention in either of the instruction booklets about removing them when you remove the ones in the waist But in the diagram booklet their there on page 6 but gone on 7😒 Of course now it's been mentioned i'm going to have to fix it! ,luckily the decks aren't glued down yet so easy fix 👍 Richard

Ok this is weird ,there's no mention of removing the foc'sle and quaterdeck nubbins in the instructions ,both in the written booklet or the one with the assembly diagrams But on page 6 of the diagrams their there and the instructions just mention removing the waist ones and on page 7 their gone🤔 Richard

Painted the lower hull copper ,from a distance it looks ok ,close up is a different story🫤 ,I've discovered because of the way I've sealed the wood I can easily remove the paint without a lot of hassle! so if I ever get plates it'll be fairly simple to remove the paint and add the plates.

Thanks Allan ,just checked the grates and that one's the only one that's like that! ,it was my 1st one😏 ,I checked a bunch of video's and posts after that and there's been improvements ,(should be able to pop it off the deck and fix it fairly easily). Ironically the best one i made is under the quarterdeck and you can't really see it with the deck on🫤🤣🤣 Richard (Edit New grate made and waiting install👍)

Tried the paper trick didn't really like the result so did some other experiments ,what i've decided on after the tests is I'll use timbermate putty to fill largish holes ,then sand back smooth and brush on a slurry made from the putty ,sand rinse and repeat for a smooth surface then paint - test pieces look pretty good so hopefully it works out. Improved the look of the Binnacle as straight out of the box it's blah! I'm pretty much in a holding pattern at the moment till I copper the hull and the way things are at the moment I can't really justify spending over $100 aud for the plate set.One thing I'm considering is painting the coppering so if anyone's done it that way on their model can you give me any hints or suggestions? The Imperial Blue paint arrived and I really like the end result on the test swatch I did so going forward this will pretty much be the scheme. (These are all AK 3rd Generation Acrylics - my main hobby focus is Armoured fighting vehicles from ww1 to modern and scales from 1/35 to 1/16! , I've used AK paints for many years and this is the 1st time I've used their 3rd gen acrylics , I'm going to have to get another paint rack or 2 because I am impressed with the results!)

mixed bag ,wales done and painted , making grates and 1st one in place and then playing around with colours for the freizework - archaic turquoise for the background and ochre for the mouldings (I'm trying out AK 3rd Gen acrylics.),the turquoise seems a bit bright so I've got some Imperial Blue coming to try out , I will keep the ochre as it look quite good!
