Hello all I have done a wee bit more on my IL Leudo. But first I have to say that I am no longer going to use the instructions only for the size of the wood, I will just go on the plans. I have made the hatchway frames, then I started the hatchway lid thing, I have to say that the frames that you glue the planks on look like they was cut with an axe (very, very bad), they say make them so they can be taken off, but this is way past what I can do so I just glues the frame parts in and then put the planks on top, I will do the same with the second one also. I have also do a wee bit on the cabin, the sliding hatch door cannot come off now, will have to re-varnish parts now. I also have cut and glued the extra 4 planks that go in-between the two hatchway frames and re done the mast hole. I purchased some walnut when I first started so I am not going to use the white wood in the kit for the masts as it says stain them and I don't know why I don't like stained wood to look like another wood, so I am using walnut. Jo.

Hello Peter So you have got a chopper, that's nothing to worry about, I have a BBQ on board my little IL Leudo. Now you are asking yourself what has my BBQ got to do with your chopper pilot well it's my secret weapon, when I hear or see your chopper coming to find me I will fire up my BBQ and start cooking my lobster and crabs and the smell of them cooking will put your pilot off and go and look for another ship (I am a lousy cook), when he has gone I will fire a lobster torpedo at your hull and sink you (that's how bad my cooking is it puts holes in hulls) job done so the answer to your question is I will finish first as you my friend will have to salvage your very large ship and that take time my friend, now who is smiling 🤣. Jo.

Hello Popeye Thank you my friend for your comments. Ha-ha I don't bother painting my finger nails now, so it gives me more time on my little ship. "what the hell is that thing CLUB" we should start a club up Popeye, we have three you Sam and myself, but I do think that new members should be charged a $100 membership fee, then at the end of the year we three can have a big party, what do you think, it should be fun. Yes Popeye I promise you I will keep building my little IL Leudo. Jo.

Hello Shane I was only joking about clawing your eyes out, as I was referring to when I first started building my little IL Leudo, I had to cut and file my finger nails down as they was getting in the way. I will do some more work on her soon. Take care and again thank you for them wonderful words. Jo.

Hellooooooooo SigEp Ziggy Thank you kind Sir for the wonderful comment above. I have to admit that when I read the part that said "expecting to say good job when it is not" I felt like clawing your eyes out then I realized I could not as the VET has sanded all my claws down (just joking) ha-ha 😻. I am doing my best with my little build, but I have to say it is a lot fun with or without my claws ha-ha. It is too early to be proud of anything yet, we will see when it is finished. I do know that it will never be put in a corner of any room to gather dust. Again thank you dear Sir for your kind words, you made my day. Jo.

Hello all I tried the small sanding stick but I was taking the black paint off the hoops, I did my best. I have given them a coat of gloss varnish and they do look a wee bit better, still not as good as I would like though. Now I have to cut the stairs down so I can glue it inplace. Happy days. Jolene.

Hi All I have had a bit of a change; I decided to have a wee go at the barrels, so I have put a coat of sanding sealer on them. I then thought that the hoops should be painted black, so I got some 2mm tape and had a go at taping round the hoops so I could paint them, I thought I was being clever till I removed the tape, the paint had gone under the tape, so I am not a happy Jo today as it took me hours to do the taping. Now I have 7 more to paint. Happy days. Jo.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
