Hello all I have been putting the hull planking off, more so as this is the finished plank. I soaked some planks in warm water for about 5 hours, I then used my electric plank bender to bend the plank(s). When I did the first one it split at the back part of the ship, but not that bad, on the other side it was worse it just about split in half. Anyway I got 3 on one side and 2 on the other side, all I can say is bring on the wood filler and it's a good job it is going to be painted hahaha. Happy days. Jo.

Hello Imagna Thank you it is good to be back again. I think I have said this before on my other build (still not finished haha) I don't like hull planking that much; way past my skills, more so this one. The back of the hull is very curved upwards and I have no idea how you experts do that sort of planking. I have decided to plank it a different way. Jo.

Hello Shipmates The planking is now all glued on and sanded, well I have to admit I have to go over it again with some 320 grit sand paper then the sanding is all finished on the deck yyyyyiiiiiipppppppppeeeeeeeeee. What I will do next is coat it up with Danish oil or should I use varnish, will some wood glue to the deck if I use Danish Oil? (help).

Hello everyone. Sorry long time no post, I have been working on another project. So it is back to my ships again, I decided not to do the hull planking yet so I have started the deck planking. I will take me another 4 day on and off to finish it, then I will give it a good sanding down. After the deck it will be the hull planking. Happy days. Jo.

Hello all Sorry I have not posted for sometime but will be back soon. Del2, thank you for posting with the info on my little ship it is much appreciated. Unfortunately this is only my second wooden ship build, (still have not finished the first one yet ha-ha), but I don't know the names of the parts of the ships but I will learn with the help of people like yourself and others on this forum. With the dyeing of the sails, my plan was to dye them let them dry and then tie them up in a ball and re-dye them, I hope to get a weathered look. You said your hull came in two halves, I am not sure if mine is an older kit or not but I am happy with it the way it is, as for the instructions yes they are very, very BAD. I have looked for your log but cannot find it are you doing a log on your build. Jo.

Going to be a nice build. Jo. -
Hello all Just a wee update, I decided to fill the bow part of the hull also as I cannot see that the planks will be secure by gluing them to a small area of the keel. I have not finished sanding the stern filler blocks down yet as I am not sure if the planks finish each side of the keel or in the middle of the keel HELP. Jo.

Hello shipmates I have just about finished sanding the balsa wood filler blocks on one side. I have to say it seems like it has taken me months to just do one side when it was only a couple of days on and off. Anyway I hope you all have a nice Christmas and a prosperous 2020. Hope Santa brings you all some new kits and tools. Jo.

Hello Shipmates Just a small update, I have glued the strips of wood round the inside of the bulwarks, I think this is the edge of the deck planking as they are on the same level. Also this helps reinforces the weak spot at the stern, I also have two more strips of wood to be glued in that area also so it will make it more stronger. Happy day. Jo.
