so.......the body is out of the dip........looks like the effort was a success.   now to give it a light sanding and clean it up the rest of the way.     pictures will follow soon.

I put my plumber's hat on today.........setting up the water supply lines with the associated valves.

the left side is a bit different.......

more painting done on some of the drive line parts,  along with the rest of the paint work for the wheels.

I wanted to do a red ring on the pony wheels,  but the drive wheels are molded in red plastic.........     should have more for ya in a bit

today's update is brought to you by......the letter 'P'.............the campfire roughing it continues

after finishing the touch ups to the cab,  populating it was the next order of business.  now that I have the flat red {and other colors for the next big project},  the cab walls and cow catcher can be painted.   I kept with the brass {gold} color for the knobs.....I didn't go nutz.

the coupler box was also added.   I have one knob that is still MIA........flew off the tweezers and I haven't found it yet......    errrrr,  correction......I just found it     while talking to you,  my ocd kicked in.   I thought to use the mouse pad I got for Christmas {Gibbs got it for me},  and I wiped under the shelf that holds my flat screen {clean out the dust kitties}..............and of course, it commenced the search for the knob all over again.   I looked down on the carpet under my chair........and there it was........a tiny black speck!   Oh JOY!!!
adding more parts to the cab....the steam dome was added

time to get the seats squared away......they will be needed soon.   they are being finished with the paint work...they need their back cushion.   there is a water level sight glass.......and the large gauge  on top of the boiler.

there's still a few more parts to be added before the cab walls go up.   I will be adding some grunge around the boiler door and the floor in front of it, before that is done.

There was a decal company, may have been Fred Caddy, when I was doing a lot of NASCAR commissions that provided a white background decal for their larger markings.

you could try something like that, of course it would mean a lot of close cutting work

hey there Sam....    I have an HP F2480.....I believe the max DPI on it is 600.   I have been dealing with a transparency issue  using the decal maker,  so I set it to max.  I did some digging a while ago,  and I found that there was suppose to be an upgrade for the program.......turned out,  it was just an expanded set of decal images.   setting the DPI doesn't cure the problem though.   decals printed on clear paper disappear when laid over darker colors.
in some instances,  I use white decal paper,  only if there is white in the image,  and I can only apply it to a white background.  a way to get around this,  is to change the background around the image,  matching the color that being used on the model.  this works very well for numbers ans names,  especially if the color is neutral........harder for off colors and pastels.

Hi all, continued working on the little stuff...worked up the gun carriages... cut and glued up small bits for the sides, base and axles...
    ( lousy focus...phone cam)

    and painted them all

while I was laying out all the fore deck accessories I discovered a major fubar....I drilled the foremast mounting hole to far aft...it should be where the yellow circle is.   If left where it is the windlass placement will interfere with the gun carriages...guess I should have triple checked.

Plan is to fill the hole with a dowel, the windlass will cover it so hopefully it wont be to noticeable...shezz

Don’t feel bad.  We all have them. And some are real doozies!  The windlass will cover, but I agree with a dowel up to the level of the sub deck and then fit in little pieces of decking to match your planking pattern, to camouflage the boo boo!

Gonna try to chip away at the Hanna while I'm hanging out in the RV...not sue how the pics will turn out as I'm using my phone with just lighting from the dining table but we'll give it a try...
I got the base color scheme laid down...three coats on all but the black....only two needed there

still a little touch up required here and there...started working on the rudder...groves were filed for the pintles and color applied...the pintles themselves are just more of the painted strips with small bits of dowel added

Well that's all for today...may add more tomorrow, gonna depend n the weather

Well thats an ooops, not like I havent made plenty of my own. At least the windlass will cover it. No one would know if ou hadnt said anything.
Your lighting doesnt look bad, remember you can take a piece of white notebook or printer paper and use it to reflect some light into the shadows.
The other parts look good to my eye.
