jct reacted to lmagna in MPC steam locomotive "The General" 1:25 scale by Popeye the Sailor - finished
Looking really nice Denis.
Have you started looking for a 1/25th scale Delorean for it to push yet?

jct reacted to Overworked724 in Sultana by Overworked724 (Patrick) – FINISHED - Model Shipways – Scale 1:64 – Solid Hull – First Wooden Model Ship
Here are a couple pics.
Hmmmm...well, when not looking at the shroud dead on, it still looks pretty good.
These shots show the difference a bit better.

jct got a reaction from GrandpaPhil in Phantom Henry J Gasser by jct - FINISHED - 1/24 scale - PLASTIC
chassis is a roller
interior is complete
and then I knocked the body off the table
so the front end will be rebuilt/assembled and paint touched up...when this is complete...again, metal foil and windows

Thx for the likes and comments...final color coat on the body
Question for those of you who have used the Pledge floor gloss stuff...do you normally apply it now or after the decals go on...I know there are probably as many answers to this as there are users but what is your personal preference.
As I mentioned in an earlier post I've done some laser decals for this build, anyone have any idea how the floor stuff reacts with them??

Another update for y'all...thanks for the likes and comments...
the hood mod needed retaining strips added to keep it from falling through, made these from the same stiffened card the trans tunnel was made from
the hood hinge was glued to the firewall
while that dried I went back to the frame rails...disassembly and striping had removed all the locating pins, so the frame was drilled and pins ca'ed in place, corresponding hole were drilled in the mating parts
finished the rolling stock...wheels from the spares box, de-chromed and painted
and the suspension and chassis parts mounted and painted out
the new engine and trans set up are longer then the kit supplied pair...so the drive shaft needed sectioned...it was cut and pined
body prep is done and the first color coat is one...more paint tomorrow...that's all for today, thanks for stopping by

I remember the original GT40s, I think that was the first american car that was competitive in the international endurance race circuit

That is the strangest gasser I've ever seen Lou...
Getting white under them is definitely a must, figuring out the best way to do it...that's a challenge

If I remember correctly that is pretty much what they had to do.
The only problem with that was that until until 1967 with the MK IV, the GT 40 was English designed and made with American engines. They were a direct descendant of Eric Broadley's Lola MK 6, a 1963 design. As the MK 6 was equipped with a 289, Ford hired Broadley and bought his Lola to design the GT40. Broadley was never really happy working for Ford and did not agree with the concept of the GT 40 so when his contract ran out he designed the Lola T 70 and later the T 70 MK III. Most people say that the MK III was the car Broadley felt the GT 40 should have been. There is no doubt in my mind that if Broadley had the same money and support that Ford had his MK III would have cleaned the field for at least the next few years before engine size limits were imposed and the Porsche 917 K came into it's own.

Nice project J. That motor looks great; clean but not too clean. Like a working motor should.

High compression ratios require high octane fuel. No way around that except to lower compression ratio as far as I know.

I never seriously considered it but it was on the lotto list...I'm with you could never justify the cost...we ended up getting a laser for home use cause we use it so infrequently...with ink jets every time we went to use it the ink had evaporated and we needed new cartridges, yep white under it about the only way to make um work

jct got a reaction from src in Hannah by jct - FINISHED - somewhere between 1/72 ish and 1/60 ish scale
Thanks Wallace...Its a good technique, you will need a good buck though...thanks to all who've taken the time to hit the like button or comment...I did manage to get something done today (aside from reminiscing with Popeye about old Funny Cars )
Finished the ships boat, short of paint, added some detail to the inside, just a bit as most of it will be covered anyway, and built a rudder and some oars

Thanks for the words of encouragement Cuda... I'll be sure to check out your Hanna, glade you are enjoy the build, I am as well, set backs and all...they just go with the turf more to add today...got all the bulwarks stripped, scrapped, and sanded to 220
and two coats of color added...new stanchions will be added next
and finished the barrel of the windlass
once the center cogs were shaped the holes were drilled and squared up with a 16 penny finish nail, not sure if this piece will be painted or left natural and urethaned...the cheeks and cogs will definitively be painted.

Made a little progress today...
The plans I have only show 3 stern timber frames, didn't seem like enough and the book Colonial Schooner, 1763-75 shows at least 5...so I cut and added two more
which makes a lot more sense, moved on to making and fitting the false deck, I've no plans for it so I just set the framework upside down on 1/32 material and rough sketched around it then just cut and fit a little at a time...took a while but got them there.
move on to the keel...the scarfs keep separating while I was try to sand it so I decided to peg them
hoping that solves the issue. The framework is roughed and should be ready for final fairing, so I started prepping some tools
and the frames are marked for fairing...
Hoping to find some time this weekend to fair the frames, but we will see, important family business to attend to

Thx for the likes and comment...more detail added to the engine...
this will become the dipstick
here it is in place, carbs are mounted too
Next I turned my attention to shaping the fuel rails...
it was then trimmed and mounted
from there the linkage went on....just some bent up wire here, added the return spring as well
then the distributor and plug wires went on...
the firewall will be drilled to accept the throttle cable and it will be trimmed to size then, headers will be added after the block is in the chassis...this assembly will sit for a few days...I'll go back in and touch-up when everything has set
