  1. Hi, I am back in the ship yard after being ill, I have finished the main deck. Do not know if I did wrong the way I laid the planks, I think other decks I will do strait. hull is now planked and I have started on the cabin walls, planking the outside seemed to go strait. I saw a message on one of the blogs here, that it is easier to do the wall papering before erecting the walls. This I have done as well as fitting the doors and windows as they needed a lot of fileing to get the right size. The next job will be to spray the required walls ochre and then when all the walls are done start to fit them. While I have the air gun out I will spray all the windows black and the doors their required colours well.
  2. Thanks Ian, I have been ill as well, only just finished the deck and hull planking, found that pins in first layer gave bulges in second so removed them on second side. when I sanded it down the pins started to show through on the side that I had left them. Dave
  3. Hi Vicnelson, A great looking finish to your kit. I have just started with the kit (which was short one spru of bits so had to wait for delivery from Spain) just a couple of questions if I may, to help me a bit. when you fitted the deck to the false keel did you notice a dip in the deck. and where did you source the stantions from, they look great?. I have attached a photo of how mine is. cheers Reynard.
  4. sorry guys I have attached some pictures 1: showing false keel prior to gluing. 2: with rear of deck in place. 3: model laying om deck showing gap in middle. 4: with strait edge on deck, 5: side view showing false keel. ta Reynard
  5. Hi all. I purchased the Mississippi kit from ocCre last month, when it came there was one sheet of parts missing. I advised them of this strait away. in the mean time I did some work in starting the build, as shown in my log. when the sheet arrived this week I fitted the deck as per instructions. I noticed that the deck was not flat, in that as it followed the false keel the centre was about 3mm lower than the bow and stern. is this right? I am thinking about how to fit the walls on what is now a sloping floor and planking it. advice from you experts gratefully received. Reynard
  6. I received the missing deck part from OcCre today 14 days turn round. When I fitted the deck I noticed that as it followed the line of the false keel it is dipping in the centre so that from bow to stern it is about 3mm out of true. is this correct? I was thinking that the wall etc have to fit on this as well. thanks Reynard.
  7. Started on the kit proper today. cut out the first section and did a dry run. fitted the rear deck section and transom, have to wait now for the missing part to come from Spain.
  8. I did a bit of work on my tram this morning, gluing the side frames, as I had the glue out I thought I would make a start on making the small bits, tables and chairs etc. I took photos then deleted them off of the card. I puzzled over the chairs for a while then I had a light bulb moment....piccy one rest show production line I can make 15 chairs at a time now just with drying time in between. spraying equipment arriving later from zone of am. managed to get the correct paints yesterday all from Cornwall except 2. that's all for now.
  9. you can see from the last picture that there are two panels the same. now to check all the boxes and bags of the small bits to see if they are all present and correct.
  10. I ordered my kit from Cornwall boats on Sunday, received a email yesterday from Fedex saying would be delivered on Thursday, received one today saying it was out for delivery. When it arrived I opened it up to check that all was ok to find I had 6 panels of wooden parts but 2 were the same and so one was missing. so have sent message to Occre.. Just realised that the photos I took are on the other pc so will add in a while. Currant build: Mississippi OcCre part built: London type B tram OcCre
  11. Thanks for your greetings, I ordered the Mississippi kit on Sunday from Cornwall models, I was also able to order from them 10 strips of 2 different decking strips. had a email last night saying it had been dispatched and one from Fedex saying delivery will be on Thursday, then one today saying it was out for delivery, just waiting for the knock on the door. when it arrives I shall start a build blog.
  12. Hi my name is Reynard and I am 73 years young. I have been making a Occre tram model to keep my hands active during the lock down as I am classed as vulnerable due to my disability. Have been working on dining table in front room, OH is starting to moan, so I have cleared out the small bedroom to use for my modelling. I am going to get the Occre Mississippi paddle wheel model as soon as I have got rid of all the rubbish in the room. I have looked at some of the logs on here of the same model which have been done and have gleaned some ideas. I will, when I order the kit, also order some planking for the deck in contrasting woods, 4mm wide I have worked out seems to be the right size and about 10 of each as they are 1m long. Looking forward to be able to get on with this as my main project.
