Ok between reposting and trying to get somethings done I've never been so busy!

That's not to mention trying to read the postings!

Ok I've now started to frame the lower gun deck. I am using boxwood for the deck

beams, knees and carlings.

First I cut the deck beams and soaked them for 5 minutes. I then clamped the to a

block with a shim placed at the center to obtain the deck camber. I slightly over

bent them figuring they would flex back a little.

I let them dry clamped foir 24 hours. I then released them and allowed them to sit

another 24 hours.

They now fit the deck camber.

Seriously though it is a wonderfull ship and I know you would do it proud.

Ben. Timing is everything. I was real close. Look at the 4th picture and you

can see the center is off by just a little.

Just a touch of sanding brought it in line.

As far as kits go I think it is fine. The metal work was about the only complaint. The flash wasn't cleaned real good before they plated it. Other than that I was real happy.  Also watch for sales. It can save you a bundle.

I will be posting the pictures of my completed scratch build of the Frigate Confederacy. This build was done using Chuck's plans and practicum that he developed for the Model Shipways kit.

 The woods used for this build are Boxwood, Holly, Swiss Pear, Ebony, Cherry, Bloodwood and some I'm sure I'm forgetting. I know all the comments and naratives are lost but if you have a question ask away and I'll try to remember!

This will take a while becuase there were over 300 pictures. Here we go.

I have parts of frames made but construction is on hold for a week or two. I want to get my

This is a reposting of the original build log. I know at the time I built it
some people were possibly going to do one too. Hopefully the pictures will
help. I know most of the text is gone but if you have any questions post them
here or pop me a PM.

Original Intro:

This model is way out of my comfort zone but I thought
what the heck. I liked the way it looks and thought it would be a fun
challenge. I’ll be using bondo and fiberglass which I have also never used. I
figure I’ll have myself covered in both in no time at all.

The 1949 Chris-Craft 19 ft. Racing Runabout is 1/8th scale
that is 28 inches long with a 9 inch beam. The wood framed hull is covered with
expanded pvc and then planked with mahogany veneer. This kit includes chrome
plated deck fittings and complete drive line hardware. You can build her as a
RC but I plan on building her as a static model.

frame parts and working my way through them.
