    Whenever we start a conversation about the tidiness of rope ends on ships - especially naval ships - I am always drawn to this painting of HMS Deal Castle - I especially enjoy the goat lazing on the quarter deck!

    Nils, are the ends of those cargo derricks open? They need to be blocked off to look realistic.

    George, the usual arrangement would be for the propeller shaft to emerge through the skeg at the stern. If you google something like 'small motor launch plans' you'll find a lot of examples.
