Jerry got a reaction from Elijah in BLUENOSE By Jerry - Model Shipways - Scale 1:64
Hello Doug..
Thank you so much for letting me know that my log has helped you somewhat. It's good to know that my efforts have helped somebody. I don't mind maintaining a log as it also provides me with a chronological record of my work. I'm getting into the home stretch now and I believe that I'll finish this model in a month or so. I hope you have a great weekend.
Here are some more pictures to bring my progress up to date.
Best,
Jerry

Hello Lawrence..
Good to see you back again. I hope you and Bernadette had a terrific holiday and that you are back and getting ready for the snow. Looks like you'll have to convert your mower to a snow blower again; I heard there's going to be a lot of snow coming your way this winter. I'm having a real good time working on this model; I'm so thankful that my eye problem didn't stop me and that I'm seeing well enough to continue.
No sails...Now you know better than that, Lawrence, I like to keep the rigging exposed and bedsides, sails are dust collectors..
So welcome back to civilization and to many happy days on finishing your Bounty.
Best to Bernie

Hello Jon,
Many thanks for your visit to my log. I did go to your log and checked it out. It's very impressing to see how you work. What you are doing I must admit is far beyond my talent. I recently stopped sailing R/C sail boats in order to concentrate on model ship building. But when I sailed I had two sailboats, a Soling and a Seawind. The club I belonged to was a bit too competitive for me (that really means I was a lousy sailor) so I sold the boats and started to build the models. Please come and see me again
Best,
Jerry

Good afternoon everyone...
Today has been another good day in the dry dock. I'm very happy to have finished the rat lines, needless to say, a very boring part of this experiment. But as I said this has been a good day because I managed to complete the rest of the standing rigging so all the stays are now in place. Tomorrow I hope to start rigging the gaffs and see how far I can go.
Here are some pictures to bring the project up to date.

Hello Everyone.
Today is a very happy day for me. I completed the ratlines!! I believe that this is the most boring part of the build, It took me much longer than I anticipated to which i blame my vision problem However, thank the good Lord because I was able to do it in spite of my problem. I really shouldn't complain because when I think back to my HMS Victory days and the huge number of clove hitches I tied compared to a couple of hundred on this model, I guess it wasn't so bad after all. The point is I shouldn't complain.
I want to finish the chain plates next; I'm planing to simulate them with black construction paper.
Hera are the latest pictures which included the starboard chain plates.

Hi Jerry
I'm back again and taking a look at lines and rigging. You are doing great.
My larger scale...1:24.. makes everything very visible. I need to learn seizing and things like never before. I am also working hard to make decent dories. Anyway I look forward to seeing what you and others are doing. These logs also get us to all kinds of hints.
My log link is to a scratch build. You can see if you visit I am getting close to rigging. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers jon

Hello Jon,
Thank you very much for visiting my log. I'm very curious as to what your project of the Bluenose is all about. You say you are building a larger version that will possibly sail. Is it a scratch build or have you found a kit that is of larger scale. For several years I have raced R/C sailboats, the Soling and Seawind among them. It was fun while it lasted but eventually i turned to the present hobby of building model ships. So, Jon, please visit again and let me know what you are up to in more detail.
Have a great weekend,
Best,
Jerry

Hello David...
ROPE Society is truly cooking again. I'm sorry to say that I haven't received your PM. I double checked just now at my Old Mail but the last PM's I have from you were back in March. No matter, I'm just thrilled that you are back doing your thing again. Glenn is correct and i'm tickled that he kept buzzing your ear as we all missed you very much. I'll check out your Diana site as I'm really anxious to see where you're at.
Best to you,
Jerry
P.S. No real pointy ends on the Bluenose but I managed to break other things for sure.

Hello Popeye...Good to hear from you again. Yes, the news is good, thank the good Lord. My eyesight is better in my right eye but that's all I need to keep going. All the ratlines aren't helping as after awhile things get blurry. Too many clove hitches, I guess. Actually, everything is okay now and I'm back in business.
Have a great weekend, my friend.

Hello Popeye..
Hope you are well. My visit to the Ophthalmologist yesterday was a good one indeed. She told me that everything is healing well and reduced the number of times for my eye drops and doesn't wan to see me for three weeks. She also told me that at this time I can get a pair of the same type of glasses as you have. I own a pair of 2.75 (used in the past) and that is very helpful for reading and computer work. I don't need anything for distant vision and this surprised the doctor. She told me that I'm one of about 5% who have had this type of operation that didn't become near sighted. I really am lucky.
I began the rat lines today and found it easy to see with the magnifier and the reading glasses..
Here are some pictures I took since the last posting:
