  1. Hi Rshaw Thank you for your kind words. No I didn't make it to Lake Erie. It is a bit of a trek when you live in Australia But I did have a holiday Two weeks in France !! While in Paris I visited the du Musee national de la Marine. I will post some pictures that I took in the next week or so So my Niagara has been going slowly what with work and holiday I have build a number of the deck fittings and now need to sand and fill the hull so that I can paint it and then fit the deck pieces Regards Ken
  2. Hi Mark Your maths is correct. 90 of each size for the carronades alone I haven't counted what comes with the kit or how many we will need for the rigging What do you think Regards Ken
  3. Hi Larry I have the same problem with the areas I have painted already. Scuffs and nicks all over. So no more paint until the hull is finished, sanded and filled. I am also going to drill all the holes for eyebolts, cleats etc before repainting Regards Ken
  4. Hi TSC The Caldercraft Endeavour is a good choice Good instructions, materials and plenty of support here on MSW Good luck with it Regards Ken
  5. Hi David Thanks for the forewarning As I mentioned earlier I can buy various sizes of rings and eyebolts from Modellers Shipyard quite cheaply. So that is what I will do if needed. Regards Ken
  6. Hi Bob Nice work !! I look forward to following your progress Regards Ken
  7. Hi Larry If ME will not play the game I have my damaged Niagara which I am using for parts. I could disassemble a few of the carronades and post you the mount pins if it helps Regards Ken PS That applies to all members of the Niagara Club and not just the mount pins
  8. Hi Brian Re the fashion piece. I found mine was to big also. Then I realised I had used the cathead parts So I have shaped the cat head parts to suit the fashion piece but will have make new catheads Duh Regards Ken
  9. Hi Rich I have got enough 3mm rings with the kit to get started with. I have tested them with the thickest cord I am likely to use. They are easily big enough. So I am going to use the rings I have and then order a pack of 100 when needed Thanks for your help Ken
  10. Hi Larry If it is any consolation I have exactly the same problem except worse in that I have planked the entire out side hull. I intend to simply fill the gaps and paint them red. But I will wait to see what ingenious solution you come up with !! Regards Ken
  11. Hello Wayne Yes I did have a good birthday thank you. But back to work today Regards Ken
  12. Hi Ferit The Endeavour is a bark So that means His ( or Her ) Majesties Bark Regards Ken

  16. Thanks Rich It helps a lot. In the meantime I had a look at Modellers Shipyard in Sydney. They sell packets of 100 in sizes 2 3 4 5 6 8 10 12mm for around $5.00 per packet I need to use a size that is small enough to fit through the eyebolt and then big enough to leave space for the various lines to fit through Regards Ken
  17. Thanks Rich Two more questions. What is the diameter of each ring ( in mm please) and did you then open up the ring to fit it into the eyebolt and close it again ? Thanks ken
  18. Hi Rich A question regarding the rings. Those attached to the gun carriages , the deck and the bulwarks. Did you use supplied rings or make your own and if so how? Thanks for your help Regards Ken
  19. Hello Bob Welcome to MSW and the Niagara Club Its not really a club but there are 5-10 of us now. We all watch help and encourage each other Look forward to your participation Regards Ken
  20. Larry One more thing You might want to check the gap between the bulwarks at the bow It needs to be wide enough to accommodate the bowsprit with some space either side Regards Ken
  21. Larry I just went back and looked at my broken Niagara. The caprail is closed at the bow. The bowsprit is fitted under it. The bowsprit sits in a gap in the bulwarks Regards Ken
  22. Rich I have just gone back and had a look at the pictures above. The plans ( no 4 ) show the sliding base at the inboard end of the base Yours seem to be much further forward than that? Or have you just done one that way ? What do you think Ken
  23. Hi Rich I will be most interested to see what conclusions you come to . I,m getting close to that stage on my Niagara Regards Ken
  24. Hi Rich I went back and had a look at the plans. they say bright which means no paint ? But I like your idea better. On my first Niagara I painted them black but buff to add a little colour contrast is much better Regards Ken
