Very cool build so far, I've built many card stock aircraft models but never a boat. I may have to give this a try.

Mines just a rescued mutt from the local shelter, yelled at her a bit is all. She's fast, that hull no sooner hit the floor and she was on it and gone. I know what you mean about vocal with Husky's and Eskimo's. Up until a few years ago I had a female husky Wolf mix and she'd "talk" up a storm. Some words you actually understood like potty, no, outside and I love you. I miss her a lot. They really do become part of the family. My other dog is a very boring and lazy 12 year old Golden Retriever/Chow mix. I got him from a shelter a couple years ago because they were going to put him down since no one wanted an old dog. Too bad for them though, he's the most loyal, loving dog I've ever had.

Update: my new puppy (just now) has destroyed what I've done for work so far with my build on this kit so it is at a stand still until I can purchase some balsa sheets to recreate the hull parts. Not that big of a deal really and since my parts cutting skills will likely result in better quality parts than the original die cut parts, the hull will likely end up looking loads better than it already did.I will update again when I can but for now I'm going back to my Albatros build. Many thanks for the kind words of those who supported my build of this Guillow's kit so far.

I had no idea Guillow's made other "sandwiched" kits of this type, Thanks for the heads up...I found a couple examples on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Guillows-1-6-McDonnell-F4J-PHANTOM-BalsaWoodCarvingModelKit-SealedMint1975-152-/380694975423?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item58a33053bf http://www.ebay.com/itm/Guillows-1-25-BOEING-747-SUPERJET-BalsaWoodCarvingModelKit-SealedMint1975-151-/261261800077?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item3cd46ab28d

Well I haven't done much with this kit as of late besides clear lacquering the hull and deck this evening. Sorry no picture of that since you can't tell much besides the wood having a richer woodgrain. Hopefully I can get a hold of some books to help figure out how to best tackle all of the rigging and sail work since the instructions are really lacking for that in this kit.

Thanks Popeye, it's sure a far cry from todays laser cut parts. Even Guillow's is retooling a lot of there old kits into laser cut which I think is great, most of the time parts from diecut panels are nearly useless. I'm not sure why they have that cut out area in the deck since in the plan, they have you completely cover it up with the large lifeboat but I may do something else with that area, not sure yet. I know right now it looks kinda crappy where I filled in the spaces I'd mentioned in my previous post but I think it will be just fine once sanded out and planking will cover all of it up anyway.

I started building the model this evening and finished the hull as per instructions. It was a nice build so far but wasn't happy with with a few places up where the sides meet the deck.I plan to add a few filler pieces to help blend the sides with the deck better. I will post more as I go further with the build. (Note:) The small cuts in the front, rear and bottom were already in the pieces for alignment purposes and not done by me...So with that said, those areas along with many other areas will need a thin layering of balsa filler and sanded out. I plan to plank the entire hull anyway so I may not even bother with the filler.

Thanks John for the advice and kind words...I know modelexpo-online.com carries the thin strip copper tape in a bulk type form too. I totally forgot about them but they use it for their model airways kits (of which I have a few) as hinges etc.but that's another goose altogether. I will check into the google search you mentioned...also keep an eye on my albatros build log here http://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/3188-albatros-by-shawn-constructo/ and my youtube video channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/maverick50616/videos Shawn

I'm about to start my Guillows Constitution ship build and plan to half plank, half copper the solid balsa hull. Where is a good source for 1/8" wide or less strip copper tape or does anyone have extra on hand yourselves? Also does anyone here have some spare dark wood planking strips around 1 to 2 mm thickness? At least 1 foot long per piece by 1/8" or less wide? ...I need enough for a hull about 9" long X 3" tall. Or a source to purchase some? Thanks for your help.
