Jeronimo reacted to rwiederrich in Glory of the Seas 1869 by rwiederrich - Medium clipper - discontinued in lieu of new log
I finished the starboard side first and will soon begin the port. I typically do things in a routine order and in small pieces so as to give the illusion of completing things fast.
Here are some more pics of the head gear too.

Rigging continues....

Now it was time to rig the shrouds along with the stays. I began this task by starting on the mizzen and working forward.

I further added details to the forecastle and anchors.

Jumping ahead...here is a comparison of images of the Glory in 1900 and my version. I thought it was interesting.

Next we move to the poop deck.....and rail.....I opted to build this first and not the poop cabin..so I had more room to align the rail and stanchions.

And another...I wanted to hand paint the name board......so it was not a decal.

Jeronimo reacted to Remcohe in HMS Kingfisher 1770 by Remcohe - 1/48 - English 14-Gun Sloop - POF
I got fed up with the plastic kit and it served it's purpose, I back working on my KF.
Shaping the parts at the bow is a little tricky but fun especially with the scarph joints and the mast partner that has it's carlings cut from the onder side of the beam. Partially fixed partially test fitted here's the progress to date. Having the fore mast finished already helps to align all parts.
Nils, thank you. Indeed the frame work is close to the real thing but not completely. I did not make the chokes as separate parts but they are part of the frame timbers.

? the dead space between the bulkheads abd the ships hull, would this have been used for any thing, or a requirement to be kept clear for observing of water ingress, i ask because a there is a lot of space not being used, and on a modern ship, although metal in construction would be used.

Karl some other thread is asking a question about skill levels your work demonstrates that there are Masters amongst us. You show us wonderful workmanship, that is amazing.

Love those barrels with individual staves even though they're mostly hidden by the lattice work and doors. Such attention to detail makes this a truly unique model.

Absolutely beautiful stunning details and definitely a pleasure to view.
I agree with Ferit... it may be the same old compliments but they are genuine.... perhaps if we all could wordsmith as well as you craft your ship we could come up with new ways to give praise

It's ordinary, familiar maybe boring for you to read at every turn these praises about your mastery that you deserve completely but I have to repeat at every update...
