  1. Hello everyone Well Christmas has come and gone and as promised I am starting a build log. One thing to notice straight off is that I have named the ship Enterprise with an 'S' rather than 'Z' which is the spelling on the kit. Not a big deal but something I want to do. Now as stated in the title this is a card model. I have never done anything like this before so with the help of all you good people here I hope I can do her justice. Here are 2 photos of the kit.
  2. Thanks for the encouragement Mark I don't get to open the kit till Christmas...Grrr!
  3. Thanks for the reply....eating an elephant...lol.
  4. Hello everyone Unfortunately my shed isn't set up with electricity or lighting and I have to use an electrical extension across my garden to my shed to do any work. With the onset of winter this isn't really am option. The shed can be is quite dark and cold and I do not like the idea of an electrical cable lying on the wet grass. I really want to build a wooden ship but I mentioned to my wife that I did not think this was feasible at the moment and I ended up looking at plastic and paper mediums. Perhaps build from the comfort of my home? So, I looked in the links here and I ended up on the Polish site Shipyard. And my wife has gone and bought me HMS Enterprise 1774 for Christmas. Yikes!! I was only really looking at something easy to build to help me learn. I have not done anything like this at all. But now that she has gone and bought the kit she will be expecting great things. Being optimistic I am looking forwards to the challenge and hopefully you guys/gals will be able to assist me. Lord knows I will need it.

  6. I knew I had seen these figurines before. I am sure that the link has been shared here before but just incase anyone missed it. http://www.guzmanshipmodels.com/page19.html
  7. Ok, thanks for all the replies. I guess as I want to build a wooden ship I should save up the pennies.
  8. Thanks for the advice Brian. Appreciated.
  9. Well, I cant really afford a wood kit but I like the look of an unpainted ship. So maybe adding the wood strips to the hull and decking would work?
  10. Hi Guys Just a thought. I made Revell and Airfix ships years ago and want to revisit my youth. I was wondering if it would be practical to overlay thin strips of wood over the plastic to make a 'wooden' ship. And indeed, replace some parts..a kind of semi-scratch build but using the plastic hull as the foundation. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
  11. This is one of the builds that I have followed along as you were building her Ed. Just awesome.
  12. Unbelievable detail Ed...."There is a drawer front at the bottom of the rack – I believe its purpose was to collect powder dropping from the shelves above."
  13. Great to read her being built again. One (daft?) question. What is the point of the horseshoe?
