    I'm working a model that includes wood cut with laser. this is great for the tiny details but i am having an issue of getting the char from the edges all over the pieces, smudging them, as i try to sand the edges. Anyone have success managing the char residue????

    The easiest one I saw was on the old MSW site: stick a pencil thru a styrofoam coffee cup. just turn the cup and poke through another sector of it for the next model!

    I vote for a scroll saw as well. I have a Dremel model that gets a ton of use for cutting out frames and other small, curvy parts and bits.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955.
