  1. Well, I procrastinated long enough, I knew that installing the Keel would be difficult, and it lived up to the billing. I started by lining up the Keel on the overturned hull, and marking the Hull as per plan. I used West System G-flex epoxy with 406 filler.( That went smoothly ) The tricky Part was Installing the Deadwood. ( this took a few attempts and burned thru a bunch of wood ) Once the Deadwood was set, I epoxied them in and filled the seams. I will let her stand for a day or 2 and fair the Keel. Here are the results
  2. Thank You, Elijah, I will be installing the Keel on the Haven, hopefully, this week weather permitting ( it snowed here today I need it to be a bit warmer for the epoxy Best Regards, Pete

  7. Today, I started by making the Tiller, I almost had the first one complete when the Egg on the tip broke off, I then had to make a second one, it is nearly complete and then need to be finished. I then Made the Boom Vang and installed it to the Mast and Boom. Next will still be to make the cleats and raise the Sails. Here are the results
  8. Hello, Piet, I used balsa on the first one because it was built to be Static. The Basswood works well with West System epoxy and will make the Hull strong. I am hoping to have the Herreshoff finished this weekend Best Regards, Pete
  9. Today, I started by making the remaining blocks. Next I secured the Standing rigging by attaching them to the Turnbuckles. I then ran the running rigging. Next will be to make the Cleats, Tiller and raise the Sails. Here are the results

  12. I am hoping to get some work done on the Herreshoff today ( I will post pics later ) I have been doing Pre- work for the 1/2" scale Volvo pond Yacht with the Volvo that I started, I then ( after planking with Balsa ) Realised that I wanted to do some water testing at the smaller scale to help with rudder and keel configurations, So I started another and will be using Basswood for the planking, Here is where I am at with that project
  13. Hi Mark, I have been using Epifanes varnish with good success ( it does take about 10 hours in between coats ) Best Regards, Pete
