Thanks for all the positive comments and likes.
Continuing on with the goose-neck the filing of the opposite side.and the ends
I also needed to thin down the tongues a bit.
Next the holes for mounting to the mast were drilled and countersunk.
Then some final polishing, this was done with some wet and dry narrow strips and a brass wire hand brush. the piece was now ready to be unsoldered.
The releasing from the bar did not work in the way I had imagined, I had expected the short piece of bar to drop off because of its weight, but this did not happen, the capillary action of the soft solder was greater that I had anticipated, and by the time the assembly had gotten quite hot I realized that I would need to assist the parting. this I did with a steel scriber.
I had to work at removing the scale next, more work with the wet and dry and wire brush, the resulting look was now more like aged bronze with actually works for me. the swiveling part of the boom end was made from a couple of pieces of brass rod drilled out to be a loose fit on the pin.
The goose-neck is now temporarily attached to the mast with some dressmaker's pins.

I spent the long weekend doing some planking. The good news is I'm happy with the way the planking looks. These photos area after a rough sanding, which I mostly did to see how the seams looked.
One issue I'm having (as seen in the last photo), is though I've measured everything out, and the planking strips I'm using are a full 3/16" wide, with each row I'm putting down they seem to be falling farther short of my tick marks by a small amount on the middle frames. When I measure the space between what I've done and the keel, sure enough, I'm going to wind up with a bit of a gap (even with a wider garboard plank). My solution is to order more of the wider 7/32" strip from Jason at Crown Timberyard (or Wood Project Source, anyone have experience with them?), and use what will probably be a couple of those in the rows where the two belts meet (where wider planks on the middle frames won't be noticed). Otherwise, I'd have to add a 21st row of strakes, which would screw up the bow and stern. It's weird, everything measured out when I did the tick strips and marked the hull, and measuring the plank width of what I've done so far shows the amidship planks at a full 3/16" wide. The only thing I can think of it has something to do with how I was beveling one edge of each plank . . . but like I said, the mounted planks measure 3/16" wide. Any thoughts?

Hi folks
I haven't had much time to devote to Shadow over the past few weeks, so... progress has been pretty slow.
A very quick update: So far, I've only managed to set out the bulkheads on the Sun Deck's accommodation and the tender garage below decks. I know it all looks pretty rough at this early stage, but at least it's a start.
All the best for 2017, everyone!
Cheers
Patrick

Build log part 51
Update....
the forward boatsdeck ply-sheet is in dry-fit mode, in order to fit the semi-round front part, the slightly raised intermediate podest ( about 5 mm higher than the boats deck, where the boats will be seated), the stairs to the lower bridge level, the positions of the vents, ......
The stair-etch patterns I had were not long enough, so I am making these from longer patterns, ac.. to scale, but that unfortunately does not have rails, so bend and solder from 0,5mm brass wire. The bridge elevation will (not shown here) be reached by an additional upwards pair of stairs....
Nils
longer made stairs
the plank on edge resembles the level of the podest
due to the curvature of the deckhousing roof, the semi round white piece must be glued down later on and secured with two micro screws, that are srewed in here for dry fit already
the pair of face vents will be shortend later on
the support-beams rest on small cut-outs in the two nav-light towers
