  1. Nice and relaxing getting onto something easy. Side entry port and steps. Tape to stop any rogue steps disappearing inside the hull. The elm tree pump lining flew off across the room but I was amazed to find it again. Fenders and chesstrees next.
  2. Quarter galleries nearly finished. Just more brass profile to go, not my favourite so far. I gave up on masking tape for the black panels for between the windows so used some 0.5 x 3mm I had from a previous model.
  3. Going great there. It's a good kit to build. Go by the plans for measurements not the color booklet.
  4. Start of the Lantern brackets. I thought the 0.7 wire was a bit flimsy but the choice of bigger wire was forced on me anyway by breaking off the 0.7 drill bit right in the centre of the lantern base. I had to use the 1.5 wire as the 1mm has gone walking. Trying to get the trophy of arms looking reasonable. One of the Lance heads broke off but the sheet under my work bench caught it.
  5. Good job, I saw them on Robert's amazing build then checked the plans. I'm sure that's not all in store in the future. Also no mention of the stern brass profiles but luckily I have got your photo's and Robert's to go by. Ron.
  6. Above the termination foot to the right in the gap just below the top plank the plans show timberheads not mentioned in the instructions.
  7. Great job. I have found things on the plans not in the instructions as well. Maybe at the end it will be where are these left over parts supposed to go. Ron.
  8. Thanks for the likes folks. Thanks a lot Dave, as good as I can do it but always something I could have done better. I was just getting better at the cannons when I got to the last one. Ron.
  9. All you want out of the first planking with filler, sanding etc is a base for the second planking then that's a base for the coppering. You just want the general shape for a start. Main parts I would check would be castings and photo etch parts. Like you say any wood should be o.k to find locally.
  10. Off to a great start Chris. Make sure everything is square and even side to side. I found out too late the right hand side deck height is about 3mm higher than the port side. Read the instructions until you understand them properly before you do the next task. Check all of your parts are there and complete. Some of my castings were missing also important parts were broken. Put a sheet under your workbench to catch the fallen parts. Good luck.
  11. Hope there is a cannon sticking out of the wall somewhere. Nice job.
  12. Thanks mine is o.k. from a distance. There are real amazing builders on this site. If it wasn't for them I would have lost with the instructions.
  13. Sounds good, I found the same with my Endeavour. So many variations and repairs made changed things depending on what materials the crew could find at the time.
  14. Thanks a lot Graham, your encouragement keeps me going when it gets hard. I liked your idea of the green around the flowers.
