Hi Nigel
I`ve always gone to Christies in the past, but Bonhams will be better for me, as I only live 19 miles south of Guildford.
I`ve enjoyed building the Xebec in the conservatory each evening, I`m with Admiral, so as long as I don`t make a mess, she is happy for me to continue my boat building there each night.
So the next model will be of the similar size to the Xebec.

One would need a rather large house to keep all your models you build over the years.
I live in a small bungalow.

Hi Brian
The hundreds of hours I put into a model, I get great pleasure.
The cost is very low when you scratch build and the small return I get from the sale, The Admiral has half and my half gos towards tools and timber.
I get the pleasure in building and others get the pleasure in looking.

Hi Michael
As long as I do some jobs in and outside the house, the Admiral is happy, and as the model is only 720mm long, I was able to work on her in doors at night, sitting with the Admiral.

Hi John
This is how I bend my planks.
The planks are place in cold water for about 10 minutes, then taken out of the water and then placed over the hot plank bender (a piece of shapped aluminium fitted to a solding iron) and worked to the shape you require.
Use the water as frequently as required.
The wood I used is 4x1mm cherry.
