Kevin got a reaction from PeterB010 in St Nectan by Kevin - FINISHED - Mountfleet Models - 1/32 - Steam Trawler - Completed June 2020
good evening everyone,i hope everyone is well and safe, Happy Easter,

the capping completed and foredeck is now in position, i should have left it another day, but changed my plans on the way ahead as i seam to be torn between the chicken and the egg. i cannot progress the deck with out doing the hull, and the hull is to big to move around to progress the deck with out scratching anything. but in the end, the hull won

the whaleback has had a coat of primer then aluminium oxide. and yellow ochre. the hull has been sanded and sanded, where to a stage it will have to do,

the red is Halfords Rattle can Red Primer, and the same brand Matt Black for the top of the hull, there is a lot of over-spray onto the red but it needs another coat

    good evening everyone

left the diorama for a while, i have a build to do as well

the hull is getting some attention now, starting with the after capping rail, i have still to adjust it width wise where the rail leave the rounded part of the cod liver house, but will be done as the next part is made up

and today she saw her first coats of paint on the hull, i can now see the areas that need work doing on it

    good morning everyone

well one of the messy jobs is out of the way, removing the top paper covering of the plasterboard, and then used a no nails adhesive to mount the side panels, this will be a long project, but im back to the boat at the moment

    Good evening Everyone

The top of the wooden jetty is complete (when i say complete, it means lots more still to do)
i now have 4 feet of stone jetty to think about,

the pier legs are not secured, as i dont have a definite height yet

    Good evening everyone

some of you may know that i have this build going on, but as part of the build i want to put her into a fishing dock diorama

i would like to use this thread to test ideas, and get new ones,

at 1/32 i will have a board that at present that is 7'x2', and will grow a bit at the end of the project

this is what the ship should look like

and at present mine looks like this

my idea (i have plenty) needs reeling in occasionally as it keeps getting out of hand

at present i want to put the build in a harbour setting, with the tide out, reason for this is to enable being able to see the jetty, and i dont know how to do water, plus it is to large an area to do

tied up alongside a wooden jetty, the jetty will run along 2 sides with scope for plenty of detail, and have a project that may never finish

here are some photos where at present some of my ideas are coming from
    these are not my photo's

today, i built up a temporary base to enable sizing everything up, i will post more photos when this is in place

lots of ideas for the diorama, but i may start a new thread for that, so i can attack some comments, who dont see my long build lpgs
but for now i have got a boat to build and finish,

the radar mast got some attention today, the radar will have to be removed in the future

quite a lot has changed since the mast as completed
painted silver with a black wash over the top

the radar dish is from the kit, will one day put something in its place that looks like one
