well...I'm going to call it finished.  I added the unit markings and a little soot from the engines,  and there ya go.   the unit markings amount to splotches of paint on the ailerons and rudder.......from what I gathered,  the 303rd marked their planes this way,  but the Wulfe Hound was the only one I noticed with these markings.  I'm not totally happy with the pictures.......if anyone feels gypped,  let me know and I'll try to take better ones.  I think the lighting had something to do with it.

I got a scare when I sat down to do it...........almost knocked it off the desk!    that would have very bad    I mentioned this....probably at the beginning of the log that there are two accounts of her demise.   one account stated that she became damaged and had to ditch in the Bay of Kalamata,  but the other account is more believable.   a B 17 was seen at Oranienburg airfield towards the end of the war.....the rest of the article is here:
    Wulfe Hound
serial numbers on the parts don't lie.  here is another article that might be of interest to you OC:
Wulfe Hund - The B-17 Captured by Luftwaffe
as I was bringing her to the place where she will be displayed...I also realized I forgot the antenna wires.  I'll do them at a later time

one of these models in 1:72 is still a decent size model.......even close to a 1:64 scale model.  I'm going to need to juggle them around when the Memphis Belle gets here    so thanks to all of you who came to visit,  I really appreciated the suggestions and kind words....it made the model what it is.

Denis, thanks for sharing your handiwork on this piece of history. Well done.👍

Guys, look up Operation Paperclip. That was when the UK/US took many German planes back to their respective countries to study. Many of our early jet designs took great chunks of the German technology for use. I know the Smithsonian Museum in the US has a number of their aircraft in storage. I assume the the British museums have other stashed also. And they did it with ships, too. The German designs were dispersed to the victors. The USN got a German Destroyer (Z-39 ). We studied it and eventually passed it to the French, who used it to keep their war reparations operational. There were other ships, too, such as the Prinz Eugen. The US nuked it, along with a lot of surplus USN ships, to study blast effects on these ships.

    Good evening everyone

    Otter Boards continued

i went for the Flory Dark dirt, but a couple are in just grime, so i have a few options when it comes to putting everything in place

i read after last nights post, that the outside edges were sheathed in metal to prevent damage to the wood when being dragged on the seabed,

having scored one side of the wood to represent planks and then stained it  i super glued the frame to it, then drilled holes though, turned it over, scored and stained then lined the other frame to the holes

to represent the metal sheathing i cut a thin piece of card, attached it all round and painted

now putting the bolts through and secure the heads on the opposite side

next will be the brackets which will be this weeks work

i not 100% sure where they fit, but here they are for tonight

    Good evening everyone

now that i have two life boats that look about the same, i have started to rig them to the boat, intentions are to get them completed by tomorrow night, and move on to other items on the boat deck

    two questions are bugging me

the shrouds on these trawlers were they wire or rope?

when a rope or wire comes of a drum to a rig, in this case a davit, does the leading edge of the line come off the top of the drum or from the bottom of the drum

Good evening everyone from a very damp Somerset

take two on the life boats,

i wasnt happy with the grab ropes, so i redid them, where i had originally threaded the ropes through the hull i filled them with eyelets,

    wasnt happy with this

i drilled out the holes to remove the black thread, which had been secured with C/A

used 1mm thread with a grime wash

    MK1 and MK2

need to tone down the weathering a bit, or use a different wash, i am still playing around with the covers

The tabs tie the cover to the boat so are pulled down, the rope then passes under and back up the other side i was hoping to pass through the tabs rather than rings hanging from them, lol wip
