  1. Just now I´ve almost finished my main sail and it´s rigging. Had a lot more job than the fore and remade some things more than one time. Now I´ll take a break for my eyes are tired and began to lose patience. Here are some photos. Mizzen is already waiting for her rigging. If you wonder why the sail is stained, well, I did it on purpose. If the ship has traveled the Atlantic lining the African coast, it´s more than logical that some dirty would be there, with gulls and other birds flyng and landing around...
  2. Joe, I´m very happy u had all the trouble in reading my log through. I´m but a newbie with a love for the hobby, and for medieval ships in general - although all ships are beautiful in their own way. And joy it´s what it is - to build is to enjoy a most wonderful time, and to learn things we never thougth to learn. Many thanks. =*** Frank, glad u passed by! Raymond, it´s being hard, but I have to endure. Only after I finish my caravel I´ll take another ship from the box; and then, only one! I´ve already seen your model, liked her. A simple and true boat - we can see her lazy gliding through the river. ^^
  3. Ollie, thanks. As I said, have the best teachers just in here. ^^ Mark, bought something more today, just one tool, and needles. Slowly my set of tools are increasing. I´m on the darkside.
  4. Micael, gratz on your second build, as she is turning to be a real view from Wasa on all details. As everyone, loved your job with the deadeyes - nicely fitted to the ship. On the couch waiting for the next pics! Keep it up.
  5. Nice work, wolf. I´ll be following, since the SF2 is just waiting to be build on my shelf. And I agree with doing fittings from scratch, at least gun ports, doors and windows, for the AL metal cast is very, very poor.
  6. Casey, that´s something I´ve already noticed about metal fittings. For my three next builds I intend on not using the metal framings and windows/doors. Corel´s are a lit bit uglier than AL, but didn´t like the two of them. Everything shall be wooden, with frames modified.
  7. Scott, have been hard to hold my hands off the other kits. As I wait to finish my caravel, it´s almost impossible not to dream with the next builds. But, one step at a time. Won´t get ahead of me. Breath, Vivian, breath and patience!!!
  8. Sam, that´s true. And it´s not only Doris, since now I want to do some POF scratcbuilds and be always evolving! And I´ll get some utensils, if not a brick in mortar stove with some trully cute pots in it, lol!!!!
  9. I´m a Forgotten Realms DM for 19 years, now. Have a nice collection of books and pockets from there. Somewhere in the future I´ll build some fantasy ship from Halruaa... lol. And it´s difficult to ignore Drizzt with his 2 cimitars and that panther. Beyond that, keep building and I´ll follow. =D
  10. Jerome (well, ppl call you crackers, but since I called u from the first time by your city, I´ll keep doing that ) - I´ll keep the photos coming, well, at least when I go outside to buy more string. Just ended those who came with the kit yesterday. Ty! Nigel, I´m hooked as a fish in there!! When I get to my ship its the best moment I have. Thanks ^^ Sam, I´ll read it carefully, since my experience with circular saws are from my time in university, some 10 years ago. I want to have all my fingers on till the day I die, lol. As for my build, I´m already studying the Red Dragon. One change I´ll do is about the doors and windows on deck, cause I want to have a cabin of sorts, furnitured and all (as chinese as my research can lead me) and the doors and windows need to let light on it - The door will be a chalenge at this scale, since I want it to be left open - and that´s all Doris´ fault, cause now I need to have cabins and furniture in my ships
  11. Following, Casey. Just a question out of the ship world - is that avatar of yours Drizzt?
  12. Babushka maia russkaia. Mi gavarim pa russki domoi ^^
  13. Now, for my sails. Have begun on fore mast but should be going for the main mast. Well, at least I did not put the mizzen and the fore mast before the main... Fist 4 pics are from early stages, the rest from the sail rigged and ready.
  14. Doris, coming from you, I´m really honored. As I said, you inspired me to do things a bit differently already and on my next ship I won´t miss the opportunity of furnituring my cabins and so on, as much as the kit allows. Ty =* Raymond, I look at the every time, just open the boxes and pick a look inside, feel the wood, observe the sails, read the instructions on and on. Scratchbuilding is a next step for me, just now, I´ll keep modifying kits ^^
  15. Jud, I thought about some monsters too, but I´ll do that after some more kits. ^^ Bindy, as we share this early love for modelling, all I can say is tyvm and I promise my ships will keep pouring through the forum, I hope yours too. For the tools, well, it seems it´s never enough - already planning to buy a circular saw, need a small hammer - needles will come in handy. I have some small pieces created just for the ship I´m building atm (a glue doser, templates, holders...) and think it´s part of the hobby to create our own tools here and there.
  16. Hey, Ulises, don´t make me full o´ myself! I´m a student on a teachers´ room, just learning - and they´r so great in teaching!!! Thanks!!! Bug, that´s true. Even if didn´t matter, I would never look at her without that feeling I did something unworthy of her. Canadian Sailor - Yep. I can see it and think if not for pride, at least for practice for the sailors, as doing it right should mean something regarding skills or following one´s orders. Casey, I´ll bring them back aligned, that´s the right thing to do. Ty, guys. I asked it as someone really interested in knowing how a ship works - Can´t think on things only for aesthetics. As I said before, I want to bring a "live" model. To have that feeling that it sailed on the Atlantic, venturing down the african coast, facing new worlds and braving an unknown ocean.
  17. For the last update: Those are the ship overall pictures. Following I bring some questions, since I got 2 "black sheep" deadey riggings After pulling the strings very hard, some of the rope ran loose and I couldn´t keep everything aligned. Question is: In a sailing ship, how much the deadeys alignment matters? On the model´s instructions deadeys are even worse than mine, each in a different line and, as my wish is to show an aged ship, it´s possible this could be put aside as an overrated issue? Should I bring down those two rogue deadeyes and put them on the same line?
  18. Pawel, thanks for your words. Patiance is all we need sometimes. And I agree with doing a model from everything ^^. Sam, I´ll surelly do! Mark, I was surprised for the view late at night, going to bed, when I turned off the lights. A pitty it got in a blur. As for my other builds, well, maybe 2 logs running??
  19. She´s a beauty so far. Masted and rigged, if u go that way, she´ll be a prize winner. ^^ Nicely done, Mr. Max.
