  1. all blocks and rope work now fitted to all the yards......
  2. a while now since i completed my Bellona.....
  3. cheers....i dont get to hung up about accuracy and scale ....for me i just enjoy the build. Unless something on the model looks completely wrong I build as per the plans....the only thing I change is the rigging.....I always buy from ropes of scale to complete the model.
  4. my builds are full of mistakes.....knocks, scrapes, scratches, dints, ...i leave them in as it is the soul of the build....I hate to see a pristine build with no scratches and scrapes....mine have blood stains and errors to many to mention. For me it is the story of the build. The evidence of a builder putting everything into it......the errors and mistakes are what make the build personal.
  5. i have an old airfix kit of the Beagle which i am going to build with my grandson, but I must purchase the occre kit........is it a decent kit?
  6. adding the blocks and ropework to the yards seems a never ending task, but I am getting there slowly....very slowly..
  7. great build. Must try a Vanguard kit, but I have 3 corel kits to get through first, and that is after I complete HMS Endeavour which I am currently starting the rigging.
  8. cheers....my work is by no means perfect but i do enjoy what I do.
  9. masts now in situ......first couple of shrouds on either side.....let the rigging commence........getting closer to the dreaded rats...
  10. masts now completed and ready to be placed on Endeavour.....bowsprit also nearing completion.
  11. i have reached the masting stage on my Endeavour...this one is by Corel......interesting to see vast differences in the kits......very nice build Bill....whats your next one?
  12. using my minicraft drill lathe attachment to turn the yards. Got to be careful with the thin yards not to apply too much pressure, but this has served me well over the years. the range of minicraft has been discontinued for a while now but can still be found on ebay for sale. Range of small drills and various power tools that I love.
  13. great to see you still with Greyhound.....keep going with her....you will probably reach the stage like I always do that suddenly she looks like a ship......that she is progressing well......i reach that stage when i have built some of the deck furniture and temporarily placed them on the hull.....i stand back and she suddenly looks like a ship......I have reached the masts and yards stage in my latest build Endeavour, also by Corel......she looks like a ship now......I admire your tenacity not to give up with this kit......me and Hamilton lost what little hair we had left building this kit.....well not actually seen if Hamilton has any hair or not but this kit can do this to a builder......keep going and I look forward to more pics and progress from you...
  14. cheers Nearshore.....i may add some colour to my next build, but i do like the natural wood colour. i break it up with a splash of red for the canons and the pump.
  15. work has begun now on the masting......the hull only needs additional cleats and fixings for the rigging. The masts are not yet fixed as one and some blocks have been added.
  16. a productive few hours....kept the cannon ropework to an absolute minimum...work be long before the hull is complete.
  17. takes me back over 30 years ago when I built this kit......i have just dusted down my Victory...she is still going strong.
  18. good build so far.....in England we have a saying "going on a jolly"....ie a night out for a good time or an adventure....this is where the saying comes from, the jolly boat.
  19. things have moved on quickly....she is coming together nicely.
  20. takes me back to my corel Greyhound build....the instructions were at best unfathomable but somehow I made it through and it is not a bad looking ship when completed.
