Nice job. I have this kit also along with the decals in my stash. Hope to build it someday as I also served on her back in the 50's but only for a couple weeks doing carrier quals. Not with Cougars though FJ-4B or A4-d's

Glad to see your back also Wayne. Your planking looks fine from what I see, just follow the kit directions and the drawings and you will do fine. The  ECB was where I learned to plank and dividers can become your best friend.

Envy your model room also, so neat!

I never installed knees in my EB but with full deck and no cut-outs you can not see them anyway. Keep building and you will get me motovated again yet.

Interesting about the Admirals question on straw as I just ran into that problem for another project and noticed some dried wheat stalks that were included in a floral arraingement my wife got. I plan to cut off the ends and use them as straw in a diorama.

Glad to see your back on ECB (wish I was but got stalled on the trailboards) Love the way you stained the ceiling. Are you going to also give them bedding?

And for all your followers who admire POF I can only say give it a try! This is a very good kit and the instructions got me over the planking stigma.

FYI, what I did for the stove but totaly made up. Bricks would be better than metal and maybe more appropriate?

Love the pictures by the bay! Scale clothing is great idea, looking forward to see how you finish that tight cabin.

Looking forward to see what you do with your base. I'm thinking of placing mine in water setting with partial dock using plexi. I also did full interior, even included stove but did not take photos. Know where you can get one of those scopes? Building the interior makes it feel even more realistic, you will enjoy the effort.

Just discovered this build log, although I have been following Wayne's also. I enjoyed reading your clever solutions to problems and will have to try the magnets next time. I am further along on my ECB, my first real ship build,and I thought the plans were fine, especially the planking drawings as they allowed you to lift dimensions directly. I find this model to be very rewarding and although slow going (my schedule) lot's of fun. I think it is a good kit and would recommend those holding it in their stash to get started.

Organized? That's the first time I've heard that! Maybe cause sanding stik's are all in a beer mug :-)

Thanks for this build log. You've got me motovated to begin working on mine again. I've been on a 5 year hiatus as I built other stuff but time to return to the wood. I really like this kit and how much it follows the actual ship. I have seen her many times and have some old photos I will have to dig up, good references for the deck. Also have the book 'Restoration of the Smack Emma C Berry which has lots of drawings done during the 1971 restoration. Not painted in the current scheme however and I have not seen that version but think it is like the Smuggler in grey and green.

Really looking good, the PE railings look clean and delicate and add a lot. Makes me want to start mine but I'm up to my armpits in a 64 I/2  Mustang and a rusted out 32 Ford for next weeks Club Challenge.

Thanks for the lead on the PE. Interesting you did the Oriskany  as I was also on her. I was in VA126 a training squadron that took pilots aboard ships for weeks at a time for carrier training, so I have spent a few weeks on each. The Lexington. Bennington, and Oriskany. What are you using for reference?

Thanks for the Build Log. I have been waiting a long time to do the Lex and hoping a 350 kit would be available. I served on her very briefly in 58 or 59 during carrier quals, working on the flight deck. When I saw the Renwal kit I snapped it up along with a decal set for the Lex. Where did you get the PE in 1/500 scale?
