I started using the Practicum to build the Sultana, but  have hit a problem.  When I compare my model to the pictures in the practicum, the area I carved from the hull seems much smaller although the picture of the wales marking is similar to my marking.  It looks as if he used 7-7 1/2 planks mid ship, but I think I could use 6 at the most.  I tried a direct email to Chuck Passaro, but no reply yet.

It could be a million things....It could be a problem with the carved hull now being put into kits vs how it was 8 years ago.   Its tough to say without seeing pictures.  Could be that you just measured wrong also.   I built that so many years ago that its hard to say with so little info.  Can you post pictures and give some measurements etc.

Walt;

Would you happen to have a copy of the Chuck Passaro Practicum on the Sultana?

I saw it once one here, but failed to download it right away, as I was not really sure how to do that. That was a HUGE mistake on my part. But knowing it existed, and seeing how fabulous it is, I bought a Sultana kit, and was about to start it, but have stopped after about 2 weeks work, because I can't find the Practicum on it, and don't have a CLUE about what to do next.  I don't want this kit to wind up in a closed box up on a shelf. It is my first hand-built model ship that was NOT from a plastic kit. I even bought the book on the Sultana (modern replica) but I want to build to the original drawings, and not the modern copy.  I want to do a Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria from Mantua, but really don't see any practicums for those either. There IS one for the Santa Maria, but I don't want to start with the most complex of the three, preferring to start with the Nina, and learn as I go. I joined NRG, and thought I could find information, but I am finding that is NOT the case. No matter where I look, it seems everything they had, has been removed or has expired. All the links I hit show as "not available" or "non-existent." What do I do now? How do I find someone who might have the practicum that I could get a copy from?

Hoping you could help!

Thanks!

Bill
