if you have a photo shop of sorts,  try sizing down the pictures.   my pictures start out over a meg,  but when I'm done,  they are over half that  {50 - 60 kbs}

Thanks Popeye, yep, lotsa bling....can't wait to start showing it off...I think by resetting my camera, I have it figured out.   Took almost as long to figure out the camera as it did to figure out the website download procedure.  Hopefully I'll remember this tomorrow.  Gonna run some Leech and Bunt lines on my Mainyard for the Connie tonight before I go to bed.....thanks for the input, and if I  have problems....I'lll be in touch....

Old Sea Dog....I see you are "Oilfield Trash" also.....was in the used production equipment business for years as well as being an Independant Operator for a number of years....she got it in a divorce...damn....used to buy a lot of pumping units in the Billings area....

Well, I have broken out the carpenter skills to start working on the bulkheads today.  Did some block shaping for the fillers as well, and overall pretty pleased with the results.  I built the Model Airways Sopwith Camel a couple of years ago, so got the hang of working with the wood and small parts.  Got more work to do to make sure all is right before gluing the bulkheads to the keel.

On my Model Expo kit, a few of the bulkheads were wrong. Some were asymmetrical, others the cutout for the keel was wrong. If you have not already, I would suggest checking this against the plans.

Hi JP, I"m mostly working directly off the plans, and dry fitting all the parts until I'm satisfied with fit and form. Just mostly playing right now trying to get something that looks like "progress" for my feeble mind...lol...So far, it appears to be pretty good, but not thoroughly checked out yet. Thanks for the tips...

Well, today with all going on in Boston, I spent a lot of time watching the news....sad...isn't it? So, I worked inside and didn't create saw dust, and did some more rigging on the Connie...broke a few things..cussed like the sailor I am, and made repairs from big fingers and frigile plastic. I think I'll be glad to be working with wood. Posted a few pics on the Connie build log for anyone interested...so we have a red sky tonight...tomorrow should be nice...sailor delight...

Wow, JP, that's quite a collection of photos. I saw something that I wasn't sure of and perhaps someone can have some suggestions. How do you manage to get such good scale perfect white lettering for the ship's name on the stern and the forward sides? I don't know how to make decals, and I'm not sure they would look right anyway.

Dry Transfer is one way. They are like stickers but you rub them on. Hobby stores carry them

Hadn't thought about those, I'm pretty sure I know what you are talking about.  Seems like Hobby Lobby sells them in their drafting/art supply section.  Any suggestions as to actual size?

Oh, thanks for the tip on the Clear Coat, I can see where that would be very important.

yea,  you'd have to put down a  'skin overlay'.   I have to do that with my decals.....I do them on an Ink jet printer.  I spray them with bonder afterwards.

Sorry Popeye, you lost me on the skin overlay with the computer printer. Not sure what or how you are referring to????? I am not familiar with how to make inkjet decals, even though I have heard of them. Any references or instructions from you would be appreciated....

what I mean is,  you have to spray a seal coat on them.   with ink jet decals,  this is very important....the ink is on the surface of the decal film.  if you were to put water on them,  the ink would come off.   Testors has a decal program you can purchase

they also carry decal bonder to spray on after the decals are printed.   there are two drawbacks though.......printers cannot print white and there is a bit of a transparency issue......I haven't worked it out yet...still experimenting.   I've made decals for all my boats

Hey Tex. Glad to see someone doing the "Charles W. Morgan". I may have missed something. Is it the "Model Shipways " kit?

I have started it, but have not begun a build log yet. Have the keel laid and the bulkheads glued. next step will be fairing the bulkheads.

A few other projects to finish before getting back into it seriously.

Well, yes I started a log on this. I also have one on the Revell Constitution which I am seeing headway to finish soon. I work between the two as time permits. I have started the Morgan, but not much more. Actually you are probably farther than I am. Have you started your log? I have not purchased planking pins yet, I like the way your's look. Where did you get them? Looks good so far. Keep it up, and I want to follow yours too.

Hello Captain, I hope all is well in one of my favorite parts of the world...I love The Netherlands. Been there a number of times... I sleep wierd hours, since I am now faced with working on these damn floating things we all are trying to replicate. I tried to banish them for a couple of years, and they still manage to creep back into life again...doomed I suppose. Yes, it is now 12:30am here in sunny Texas, and is currently around 60 degrees F., Tomorrow should be in the 80F..range, so Spring is here. Been building a lot over the last few days, and should finish the Main mast on my Constitution tomorrow....I have provided you pictures if you haven't looked.....Sir.....lol....I do realize how it is important to show progresss to my superiors.... I shall now retire for the evening, since my watch os over...By the way, thank you for your interest......
