Hello!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm just discovering model ship building. I was listening to the Aubrey-Maturin series for my second time, and looking up cat-harpings to see what they were, and I came across the world of model shipbuilding. Intrigued, I read through the practicums for one of the Model Shipways models, and here I am joining the forum! I don't know exactly what I'm going to tackle for my first one, I've got a baby due in three weeks so I might not have enough time just now. Looking forward to lurking around here and getting advice so that when I do start, I can hit the ground running.

Gidday Adamjoyce and another warm welcome from the Land Downunder.

Congratulations on the imminent arrival.

One suggestion to consider, search through the various build logs to see which type, era or class of ship appeals to you.

You will see how the various pitfalls have been overcome and may get a better understanding of what is entailed.

It can be quite daunting and expensive choosing a kit. There is a  lot of advice on first time kits on the site.

You will find a wealth of knowledge and expertise here and I encourage you to ask questions.

I wish you all the best in your endeavours.

Mark.
