Hi Emmet,

I'm planking my own Victory out there in the South of France. Following your steps and trying to learn at the same time. Tumbling and falling into the same traps I guess...

First planking is half done, I'm curious to hear about 2nd layer planking with walnut wood. How is going  for you?

I do not know why the Santa Maria is appearing below but I want to add some recent work I did on Victory. 

I added some walnut planks.

This will be my last post on this site until Spring of 2021. I am now in New Jersey and am working on Santa Maria.  I like being warm and will miss building the Victory.

Nicely  done with the first walnot planks. I hope to put the first one on my build in a month or two. 

Just a question: What do you intend to do with the edges on the keel? Set some walnut there too?

Not sure about the edges. But I am going to copper plate the bottom of the hull so I assume I will put copper on the edges as well as on the rudder below the water line.

I'll stiick to wood. Just finished first planking. Pondering about the next step.
