Hi all, I have just completed my first build ever (Polaris) by OCCRE and now I am about to begin my second (HMS Endurance) by OCCRE. In looking over the instructions I found the attached symbol in building mast. Can anyone tell me what it means?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Chuck

I don’t think so. For example not shown in picture is the same mast without the B, showing just an A. Then the A appears again with the symbol similar what the B has. Hope I haven’t confused you too much.  Thanks Chuck

I think Broach Boating is on the right track.  Your image is plan A and the line labeled B will correspond to a line on plan B that shows the point that the plans overlap.

I am sure that DonSangria is exactly right - 'A' indicates a view from the front and 'B' indicates a view from above.

A is looking at the part from the front as shown in the A elevation on the right. B is looking down on the part, showing the platform in B elevation on the left.

B is looking down on the part,

This is partially correct.  "B"  is the cross section (looking down) at the point where the arrow indicates, it is not from the top of the mast which would have included the cap.   Another common convention would be as below
