Hi everyone, glad to join the forum!
I am Greek, live in Athens, and have the ship model building as a hobby. I consider myself an intermediate-level builder. So far, I have built some ships mainly from Artesanila Latina (Santa Maria, Chinese Red Dragon, Hermione la Fayette, HMS Bounty, HMS Endeavour, a section of San Francisco), but also from Occre (HMS Beagle, HMS Terror), Amati (La Pinta), Mantua (Black Falcon) and Constructo (Halifax).

Recently, I discovered somewhere an already made ship in a bad condition, and decided to save her from the trash and try to revive her beauty! The problem is that I cannot recognise her, in order to search for the initial plans and drawings. In addition, I don’t know the manufacturer.

I believe she is definitely an American two-masted schooner with top sails. The flag is the 1818 US flag (the ‘Great Star’) which was the official flag until 1822. As you will notice, from her foremast to the bowsprit she has 4 jibs (instead of the usual 3). The dimensions are L: 96cm (37.8in), W: 36cm (14.2in), H: 62cm (24.4in)

I would appreciate any help from you, guys. Can anyone recognise the ship?

Thank you very much!

Welcome!

The flag is the wrong one for the War of 1812, but it looks like the privateer Prince de Neufchatel or a similar vessel based on armament, deck configuration, sweep port and gunport location and mast/sail configuration.

It could very well be the old 1/64 Model Shipways kit based on the dimensions.

Mine is 1/72 and is approximately 33” long.

Enlarged to 1/64 the model would be about the size of yours.

Here’s mine for comparison:

The contrasting wood colors are the hallmark of kits made in Spain. Constructo made a kit for PdN at one time. We have a build log for that kit here.
