   Has anyone built the “black prince?……if so, any comments or suggestions?

Happy new year all……

     Basically I am still a rookie in this hobby, on my fourth build, learning a bit each time from my mistakes. Currently I am near completion of Black Prince (Alfred?) from the revolutionary war.

I have built the Eagle, and Dallas…larger vessels, that while pretty challenging, seemed to be a bit easier than the smaller Black Prince. The smaller working area has been very challenging.

Especially when rigging the vessel and Keeping the shrouds snug. Anyway, mistakes and all, I am almost finished, and it looks pretty good. Has anyone built this vessel?

I have merged your two Black Prince topics, since they are essentially duplicates, and moved them to the kit discussions area since neither of them is an actual build log. In the future, should you wish to start a build log, please refer to the "starting and naming your build log" topic pinned at the top of each build log category.

A search for "black prince" does return one build log .

Black Prince?.......No way. I bought it to build for my young son. Didn't expect much....and this turned out to be what I got. Really doesn't help you develop any skills. I started with Caldercraft's Sherbourne. Single masted and uncomplicated rigging.

I haven’t built the Mamoli Black Prince, but I built another Mamoli kit (the Endeavor) several years ago. 
 

It was pretty nice.

 

The Black Prince looks like it is modeled after a standard privateer with a Baltimore Clipper rig.
