I’m still working on this I decided I was done with the varnishing and wet sanded a bit and decided it looked how it’s going to look and moved on. I am now waxing it up with this Howard citrus shield and I am a couple layers in and really liking it but it’s still a little spotty and not sure if I should keep going or try a different product.

Feeling a little motivation to get this boat done so I pulled the broken rudder and remade it and added a couple finishing bits and carved out notches for the hinges. Drilling holes in this scared me at first but I’m going slow and doing it by hand. It’s going slow but with the weather worse I’ll have more time to get it done

the motivation comes from my small little rc sailboat my wife got me and finding a wonderful little lake to use close by

it all came together nicely!

does the pond/lake have a name? It is good to be able to walk around and retrieve a boat when things go wrong and she drifts to the other side.

ask me how I know.

The pond (Hicklin lake)has decent access all around and is on a disc golf course it may not be the first place I go to test it that will be downtown at the wooden boat centers pond yatch pond shallow enough to wade to. I’m so close I can taste the finish line

Looks like a nice spot with easy access.

Myself, being situated between two of the of the great lakes (Erie and Ontario), I must regularly remind myself that not all "lakes" are massive.

I am think of the phrase from the famous Crocodile Dundee movie: "That's not a knife. This is a knife!"

Alright new rudder is epoxied and I believe final assembly will happen this week after I pick up some Velcro to secure electronics and the battery

I was working on my boats and had an urge to go check out the hydroplane museum so I went and was blown away with what they do there fully restoring classic race boats wooden frame with big Merlin v12  engines and I picked up a small plastic model rc because sadly they did not have any wood models but I am now inspired to possibly take on my first boat from plans

I’m calling this done 99% and I’ve taken it out first at night and then today where I could actually see. It’s slow but damn I love it and it looked great even used it to catch the sailboat that was drifting with no real wind. Not a drop of water inside didn’t lose my propeller or rudder and it got a few compliments as I cruised around chasing ducks I am so so very happy and can’t wait to keep building more

Great job, Andrew! "No water inside" is always a good report for an RC project!
