Very interesting video. Most are not suitable for small-scale modeling because of the grain, but some are. Rev. William Romero, before he built his HMS Warrior practicum, framed up a 3/16" scale Frigate Essex model in Pauduk Wood. It looked really nice, but he said that the dust was highly  toxic.

I have some padauk veneer as well as some dimensioned pieces.  I really like the reddish orange color in my  efforts to avoid paint.

Don't have anything to show for it yet.

 

I am using some bloodwood for the gunports on my rattlesnake.

 

 

I don't find it particularly expensive in the quantities I might need for modeling.

Paduak is a very pretty wood. As it ages it gets very dark. I also smells like cotton candy to me when you cut it. I used to work with it quite a bit.
