Where can one purchase 1mm x 5mm basswood strips?  The strips that came with my kit are poor quality and I want to replace.  Length is 24".  Thanks.

I bought some nice boxwood strips from Modeler's Sawmill in Rutherford New Jersey, USA. (modelerssawmill.com).

Fast Tracks, Inc. (https://handlaidtrack.com)in Port Dover, Ontario, Canada sells Mt. Albert Scale Lumber wood strips of good quality.

I ordered a lot of basswood strips from Sig Manufacturing. They were pretty good quality, but there was quite a bit of variation in the dimensions of the smaller strips. Other suppliers had better tolerances. Sig also has an excellent line of very thin plywood.

Midwest Products (www.midwestproducts.com) has an excellent selection of small dimension basswood strips. Good tolerances.

Bud Nosen Models (https://budnosenmodels.com/) has a good selection of wood strips and thin plywood.

To go along with my earlier Hobby Lobby suggestion, if they have strip stock at all then it's probably part of a Midwest display, along with sheet stock and filler blocks. Come to think of it, hardware stores sometimes carry Midwest stuff as well (e.g., Ace, but probably not Lowe's or Home Depot).

Local Hobby Lobby is poorly stocked.  Bud Nosen Models has exactly what I need; trying to contact them since there is no on-line ordering that I can see.

Find a local arts supply store, especially one that has a university in town. Basswood is often used by artists, art students, architects (and modelers). At least one arts supply store in my city has a descent supply of Midwest products wood in various sizes and thicknesses. I often have extra sheets in a few thicknesses and some dowels just in case I need them. You can also find on amazon, but they're often third party non-amazon vendors and I usually do not trust them unless I know the company.

I tried Michaels and they had almost nothing. I haven't tried Hobby Lobby near me, but I think big box stores are often hit and miss. My wife is a quilter and has never bought fabric at one of these places. Small arts supply stores are usually better stocked and you can support a local business too. My local place is now where I go to get wood and paint brushes and the like.
