Having grown up on the east coast of Canada, lobster boats are common to me and the livelihood of so many fishermen.  Have cracked the box and am studying the manual closely, researching various boats, looking for other build logs and will be starting the build shortly.   Just a reminder to those who might be interested, I do stream when I am building so come and hang out and chat about model building. -  https://www.twitch.tv/bartbandy

Hi Scott,

I’m currently building this kit too. An older version # 953. I owned and worked a full size version out of Portland, Maine in the early. 2000’s. I’m looking forward to watching your process.

Cool, do you have a build log of your own on the go?   I am sure myself and others would love to see it.

I'll follow along with this and see how it goes.  I built the bluejacket lobster boat (before I discovered MSW, so no build log) but I don't recall seeing a build log of this Midwest kit.

lol, yes there are not many logs around so will have to take my time with the instructions (the photocopy of a photocopy that midwest gives as instructions can be a bit confusing).   But will try and take more photos than normal and be a bit more verbose in my writing in my logs :).

AFAIK, the BlueJacket kit is a design they took over from Laughing Whale, and I suspect the Midwest version is also the same design -- which would of course make the Model Shipways version also the same design.

Interesting....I know that some of the Bluejacket kits originated with Laughing Whale but did not know that any Laughing Whale kits ended up with Midwest.  But to me, it definitely appears that this Midwest/Model expo kit is based on the laughing whale kit (based on comparing it to the Laughing Whale build log by  @John Ruy ) while the Bluejacket lobster boat appears slightly different....the proportions seem a bit different and some of the details as well.
