Photoetched frames were primed with etching primer then followed by a yellow ochre finish. Fixed in place using a little white wood glue to allow movement for final placing.The windows were coloured first using a 2H pencil then followed by a softer HB....may need a softer pencil to provide a darker colour. May paint them, may blacken them. Then i'll finish the whole transom and starboard quarter galley before returning to the hull second planking. Your build by the way is awesome. harlequin Posted May 25, 2015 Author #116 Posted May 25, 2015 (edited) There are a couple of things on the quarter gallery i'm not happy with so they will be sorted this week....but i'm off climbing in the lake district for a couple of days so it can wait. The windows are photo etched plate and getting paint to stick even with a primer is very tricky. I tried several different ways of doing each window pane but it always came out unsatisfactory. I've tried several chemical pretreatments with little success. However, if I'm going with a dark color, I have had some success pre treating the PE with blacken it. Just enough to start the reaction.
