    Dear friends,
I warmly thank you for your praise and all comments, I am honoured a lot and appreciate your kind words.

Well, these cleats are my newest and I spent plenty of time searching suitable way, how to make them. I have to admit that my first cleats were not very good.

That's a walnut-tree wood. I like this kind of wood, it has a nice colour and it is quite easy to machined it.

And now what's new on Royal Caroline...
There are finished all cleats and now I am working on channels and deadeyes - they are made on CNC lathe (not my own - I purchased them here:
http://www.radekshipmodels.cz/en/list-of-kits-and-accessories/accessory---blocks ), but it is necessary to improve the deadeyes for more realistic appearance and better looking surface.

Here are some pics, please enjoy them:

All channels were glued onto wooden beams - one of them is highlighted with red spots on first picture below. These beams were embed into the hull and secured with glue. I tested the durability and bond strength and it proved to be a very good solution at card models.

Doris I have made cleats before and they look ok until I blow them up. But yours look real even under the unforgiving eye of the camera.

    Thanks for stopping by Daniel.

Well I'm back and I have got a start on cutting the bulkheads out.

Care was used to ensure the plywood I have is free of warping. There are 27 bulkheads
to cut out. I used my standard method of cutting the individual bulkheads from the plans
and glued them one at a time to the plywood using a temporary paper craft glue. This
allows for removal of the plans should I so desire.

Once the bulkheads have been cut on the scroll saw I use my x-acto knife to score the
various reference lines that will be needed later. This is done just in case the plans are
    removed from the bulkhead later.

I then take the bulkheads and make stacks of about 6 bulkheads of similar size and shape
and place a heavy weight on the to help ensure that they do not warp while I finish cutting
the remaining bulkheads and the former.

Well I'm off to cut more bulkheads out.

Augie & Bala, thank you for the comments.

The stern is progressing. I've managed to get the stern guns made and installed. I decided to add the train tackle to the guns. I'm not sure if its appropriate based on how close it is to the tiller rigging but I like the end result. Guess I'll find out soon enough when I finish the tiller.

Thanks Per! Good pictures except for that grey haired guy. When did he get so old? Do let me know when you are up for another house call. We accomplished a lot and had some great music. It was a wonderful weekend!

For the rest of my viewers. I was assigned a very demanding project the day Dr. Per left. So the planking has slowed. But I do at least 4 planks a day. The new project if successful will create over 1000 jobs in many countries for my company. So I am working 12 hr. days and 7 days a week for a couple of weeks. I will post pics as soon as there is something significant to report.

Also look who just achieved the rank of Captain. I think that extra stripe look pretty good.

During a "house call at the West side of the state I also had time to work on my "Harley"
I have come to the stage of "decking" as in the picture the king plank is attached.

To simulate the caulking I used a borrowed graphite pen.

It's a tedious job doing the simulated caulking but progress is certainly on the way.

And yes, I am the one doing the job  ....

During the "house call" at Floyd's Shipyard I was able to catch the man in the action...... sort off
In the background his lovely dog Willow but also the J-yacht Endeavour.

This picture is good to give the idea of the sheer size of the yacht.

Floyd in action adding planks to the bulb and first two flush with deck.
The bulb planks measure 2x2mm while the regular planks are 1x4mm, that will result with a lot of sanding to get a uniformed side.

    Time for a short update.

The stern post and previously scribed hull moldings were added:

Work on the transom has begun:

Here you can see that a double layer of 1/8 x 1/16 " planks had been laid on the transom wings.  The entire transom was then thinned (on the inside) to an overall thickness of 3/16".  This was a bit tricky but (once again) the pencil sander did most of the work:

We'll now begin to add the quarter galleries.

    Hi Shipmates.

A few more photos on my progress up to date.

Tree nails are cocktail sticks sacked on dark stain then dryed and a .6 mm hole drilled into the Tulipwood.

treenail then glued into place  and when dry cut with side cutter and sandpapered.

Chalking done with Black card. All the planks steed on edge and card glued to facing edge with PVA glue.

    Before sanding down and after.

Tree nailing done on far side only this side to complete now.

This middle Deck is now almost complete and now need to add the furniture.

I will add the scuppers holes and the holes for the Gunport lids ropes as I do deck by deck.

    Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Mark.  Yup, what my Admiral calls 'the hole in your boat' will be the display side as she has already determined she's going the wrong way.  Wait until she finds out the masts are only 4" high .  I'm doomed.  But it's all part of the plan my friend.  She'll be so relieved to hear that the next one, according to her wishes, will be fully 'complete' and set to sail in the right direction (even if it comes in at 40" +  loa).

    Floyd,

Nice progress, I took a last look at her before I left this morning, and saw additional two wet planks in place.
BTW, next time you go out to the model, don't burn the bacon in the skillet.

So here is an update on my progress.

First a couple of comments -

    1. I decided to dispense with the drop keel. It only detracts form the wonderful lines.
    2. As discussed in Sailor's log the instructions are very unclear about the first row of planking. but it appears we both agree that it should be flush with the false deck. There is a double wide strip that lays on the edge of the deck that will cover the seam.
    3. I had a slight wow in the keel. And thanks to a house call from Dr. Per I discovered the problem before it was difficult to fix.
    4. I had to add material to both sides of 5 bulkheads so that the first plank was flush.
    5. I should also mention I plan to paint all of the hull. and there will be no 2nd layer of planking. Easy Peasy.

    So without further delay -

Since I only use CA for spot welding. it goes slow. But I am ok with that. While I wait for the glue and planks to dry out. I focus on other stuff. Still it is about 5 planks every 30 min or so.

I finished cutting out the gun ports for the lower gun deck. Using plan sheet #8, I was able to locate the ports fairly accurately.
Next up was to place the false gun blocks. Since I already had ports cut out, centering the blocks was easy, and I had only 2 dimensions to deal with. The first was to measure the height of the gun barrels from the deck, and the other to determine how far back from the deck edge to place the blocks so the barrels protruded the correct distance. In the Euro notes, Peter had provided these dimensions, but I decided to make my own calculations using the plans and the gun barrels. It just so happens that Peter's figures were almost exactly what I came up with, so I used his, The holes in the blocks were drilled 13.4mm from the bottom and the blocks were located 11.7mm inward from the outer edge of the deck. There were 4 ports on each side that will remain closed, so no blocks were placed there.
Next up will be placing the middle gun deck.
