Thank you for the additional information! The Quebracho table is beautiful, the wood has a very rich color. You prompted me to do some more research, and I must correct some of my information.
I do not think that the powder I have is from the bark of the tree. It is a water soluble extract made from boiling chips of the red heartwood of the tree, which contains the desired tannins. At the taxidermy supply retailer I purchased it from, it is called "Bark Tan", which led me to the wrong conclusion. It seems to be used most commonly in this form to dye leather. As pointed out by Captain Poison, and apparent from the label on the box, it's to be used with care. Here is a photo of the label, and the bag of Quebracho Extract--

I began with bolting of the individual frames, first aft and first front frames are glued now to the keel.

Hi Ron,
That is just beautiful planking! I can't believe this is a "dining room table build"! Everything about it says "full woodworker's workshop"!
By the way, that is also one beautiful shipyard "supervisor" casting a watchful eye over your build!

Greetings, everyone. Soon didn't turn out to be soon. It's inconceivable to me that it has been three years since I last worked on Oneida.
But here is something new, work continues on the ships boat--
On the left is my first attempt at the bow platform--disastrous. Then I got a little smarter and made a heavy paper template, made up of a central shape fitting within the frames, and then gluing pieces on to create the notch spacing, as I test fit it. On the right is the new blank to be cut--
Next is the template traced on the blank--
And in place--
Then I carved and sanded two supports that will be used to house the boat on the ship's deck--

Cumberland finished long ago and during this time another model was born. All this time of my silence I have been finishing another imperial yacht Queen Victoria. Here is a photo of my finished work on this yacht.

I glued together all the parts of the keel and put the keel into the building board. Now remains to make a rabbet and I will start preparing for the frame construction.

I use a draw plate to make my treenails from wood. And, in my experience, the Jim Byrnes draw plate is the only way to go for this. Previously I had a draw plate purchased from MicroMark, which was greatly inferior, and impossible to use for drawing down to the smaller sizes.

Hi,
Finally managed to get the all clear to get back to the workshop after five months of convalescence. My Triton build is now in the process of being resurrected - just breaking myself in with some more of the more straight forward frames from mid-ship while I try to get my head around the convolutions and challenges of the hawse and bollard components ..........

I installed the flags on the model and now only boats remain to do. The Pandora included 5 boats which all are placed in central part of the ship. To see equipment on the board I decide to make only two boats.

To wyz - some people will be have the possibility to see this model in September 2018 in Romania (Naviga´s World Championship) and in Czech Republik (Czech Championship).
