And now some other important steps in life :-)

Applied a very thin layer of paint to judge the situation ...

... and realised immediately that some steps were applied a bit crooked. So taking them down carefully, reglueing and filling the gaps.
    (see                                           #573                          )

Prepared the doorway of the port ...

    ... carved the panelling ...

... and it looks already more friendly than some days ago :-)

Sooooooooo it looks already a bit more friendly by now ...

... closed the gaps with Evergreen and Apoxy-Sculpt ...

... and the new steps are a awaiting :-)

A good trick to get an even result ist to just first fix every second one ...

... and use the ones in between to average out the rhythm :-)

And to finish put the crown onto its place :-)

    Cheers, Daniel

IN the beginning pictures,  I thought about Sjors..... "so,  that's what happens to cottonball cannon balls when they get wet!"

so....now to apply all the learning to the build!    gonna be fun to see      very nice Daniel!

next will presumably be destruction, of some part hitherto unknown
Give him a decade or so, and his lower deck will be better than the original.

    Hi Keith shipmate.

    Yep she is coming along.
The table and chairs up and in use.

The round one is for ether the Captains or Admirals quarters, maybe have to make two.
Fixing cannons and not knocking them off the decks I see is a problem, well with the ropes plus sanding off the base of the truck wheels might help with fixing to the decks.

Brass added to give better strength on the bowsprit. For the rope/blocks later.
With wood and brass and lots of advice, this should work well.

    Great work Keith shipmate.

That's really coming on and the metal items look far better.

I would have thought the metal would be nearer the mark for scale and more interesting too.

    Cheers Frank.

Well in two weeks time I am off for a vac as you Americans call it.
But in the meantime I have started on some of the figures for this and another ship.

There is a very limited amount of postures in the figures for naval ships in this scale.
So it means a few(many) amputations.

Here are just a few, with an American officer(the one I use in many pictures so far), Capt Hardy(still needs his hat sorting.
Seven marines, one drummer and a marine officer plus many more alterations.
What you see is only a fraction of what's needed for this and another ship.

I guess by the American officer is a clue.

I found my mistake in Campell's China Tea Clippers.  I wrongly assumed the "up" position was the anchor stowage, pulling down to release;  it is the other way around;  luckily a gentle nudge broke the ca loose, and I was able to rotate it freely into position;  The right way (stowed) is shown in post #635.

And believe me, Keith, if it hadn't have been that easy of a fix, I was not about to remake the assembly; as you said, nobody, (except me) would have known the difference..

Lesson learned:  Do your research thoroughly , especially if you have the resource material right at your fingertips..

Ty for the likes everyone, Hi Lawrence- since that photo the primer has been sanded back and the bottoms had a final coat of grey primer. I will be using copper plates cut from self adhesive copper tape (dolls house tape). Took another shot to show the castings compared to to billings laser cut ply ones- either billings are under scale or sergal are over scale!

Evergreen and Plastruct are both companies that distribute styrene in various shapes and sizes.  I get my fix at the local hobby train store - they have plenty in stock.

Careful though... The stuff is addictive!

Good to see another 1/96 Connie build log!

Since I couldn't find a kit of a military Victoryship I decided to build one based on the Bluejacket kit. So far the hull is done and I'm now beavering away on the super stucture. The armament is by HR products, and the PE is by Toms Model works and Bluejacket. Have a look.   Bill in Idaho

Hers a few pics of my latest work. Building and installing the tiny PE ladders from Toms Modelworks. Someone commented about getting to the fiddly bits and this model has em in spades. To Top it off I had to redo all the lettering because I stripped them all off when I absentmindedly put masking tape over them. The next big project will be making the life Raft racks. There are 25 rafts to fit.All of the superstructe is wood block with styrene laminated using R/C 56 or equivalent. Its a glue the RCers use to attach plastic canopies. Seems to work well. We'll see 10 yrs down the line. All the cargo masts are scratched from Styrene. I'm doing this project for a local museum so even though I'm volunteering my time there is still incentive to get finished. I've been putting in 4-6 hrs /day  with a day off here and there for 3 months  now. I haven.t totaled up the time. So much for now. Bill in Idaho

Will be warmer and good to meet friends.

Plus can pick up some Syren products while I am there.

Had them sent to one of my relations, so as to save money.

    All helps.
These are some that I already have for the block/tackle for the upper/quarter decks, still another 29 to make, they work too.
