so this is Tanganika.... i never realised this timber species is called tanganika. it does turn quite brittle, especially when pulled off of the shelf after 12 years.

you might be still shipping to the continent Chris, but customs charges that your customers are going to be hit with are no scaremongering. they are a harsh reality. or as us remainers liked to call it: Project Reality. i hope you can still continue posting to the EU. some retailers have already said they wont be doing so.
it would be a loss to the modelling world if you went out of business due to the customers sending goods back. some retailers are already feeling the effects very bad.

nothing changed for me. i will keep buying my models the same way i always did. part build and abandoned from ebay. and when i fancy a paper model, i will travel home and order them in to be delivered there. i am from EU country, so have options.
regarding Chris's business, only time will tell how affected it is going to be.

maaaslo got a reaction from mtaylor in La Niña by CRI-CRI - FINISHED - scale 1/48 - ship of Cristoforo Colombo - 1492
Its the amount of rigging that appeals to me. I am building Pinta, scale 1/96 from Shipyard, paper model. It has a little bit more rigging, but still less than USS lexington. Thats why i will finish it sooner.
regarding category, year of built puts it in build logs for vessels built prior to 1501. You put it in 1501 and over. Its only slight oversight which does not bother me that much. Only some people searching for logs according to year of building wont find it.

she looks lovely. I specially like the fact there is no cannons and minimum of rigging to do...
and as I have just discovered your log I don't know if you have been told your log is in wrong section...

maaaslo reacted to kondzik in Saettia by Kondzik - WAK 7-8/2015 - 1:100 - CARD
Hi.
I've decided that it is time to end period of inactivity after finishing Allege and start new project. I've decided to try my skills at building card kit of Saettia, small transport vessel from Genoa, used from end of XIII until XVIII century in western parts of Mediterranean Sea. Kit was designed in 1:100 scale by Tomasz Weremko aka Seahorse and published by WAK issue 7-8/2015.
This time I've decided to use laser cut frames. Since these parts are made of beermat cardstock, which is nice to cut with scalpel but awful when sanded with sandpaper (it is very soft), all parts were soaked through in nitro based varnish. After drying parts got a bit more stiffnes and stopped falling apart when sanded. Currently whole frame is glued and ready for covering with deck and sanding before first layer of skin.
Cover of the kit:
Hull frame:
Till next time.

Small update, quarterdeck and first layer of main deck closed framing from the top. I've deviated a bit with build sequence from parts numbering and created first windows. I've also started to cover hull with first (of three) layer of skin.
