  1. Water tank installed now I can install the top roof. Have not figured out how I am getting the 4.5 volt battery in the dr k house but will figure it out in due course.
  2. What is interesting Gary is very few people in our country knew about this service far less about the first steamship that formed part of our rail service. This boat provided an essential communication link for many years.
  3. First bench . Sides made from the hardest wood grown in Guyana ,” Wamara”, wooden slats are “Juniper”
  4. Hi Tom my wife and I had lots of crystal we got when we got married and never used. Last year we decided to start using it and you know what happens, they are getting broken. However before I throw them away I grind them down and use them in the shop.
  5. yes we do have to declare but we are each allowed $2500TT free of tax so its usually not a problem
  6. That because you live in the developed world with a strong currency. $1 US =$7TT. so thats $8 US, but we still pay through our nose to get anything here. We have air freight, 20% import tariff and 15% VAT or sales tax. Thats why I usually buy stuff and send it to my daughter in NY and pick it up when i visit,
  7. Boy it seems i am going to have to add a few items to the work shop. The Smith little torch looks fantastic and i will consider added it some time this year. i will buy the US version, my ole motto, if your are going to buy a tool buy the best tool you can afford plus a bit more.
  8. Yes Bob, i found a mill end .125” and was able to use it in the Cameron drill press to flatten a small section on the post, then a jeweler friend explained that they use a small diamond head round burr to create a slight curve in the flat section, which i then drilled. I was able to drill 22 holes through the post using oil as a lubricant and the drill is still good. This was a great solution as I have no idea when our airports will reopen. The lead time on ordering the resistance solder is also long. so i am back on schedule. thanks for all the advice.

  10. Success, 4 post drilled and epoxied into the model. All deck cabins stuck, lights installed.
  11. Found a .125 milling end that was able to score the post. IMG_3343.MOV
  12. Decided to try to drill post as i have no idea when our airports will reopen. To my surprise i have been able to drill 4 holes in three post. Difficult as the drill bit tends to wonder as i can punch the post. I used a file to score the post. I do not think the drill bit will last too long but it will be much cheaper than buying the resistance soldering unit which is currently unavailable. Keep you fingers crossed.
  13. Pat thanks so much for your response. Makes me want to purchase the unit. What do you think i need to buy with the first purchase? I live in Trinidad so its problematic to get stuff. I am also not sure if i can even get to clear the items from the courier service as the country has just implemented a total shut down. The airport is now closed.
