  1. You're welcome. It wasn't an obvious place to put it but I remembered since I bought my copy last summer.
  2. Greg, The CD can be found in their store under the book section. I just checked and it is still available. Bill
  3. Tom, Speaking of the CD, they must have published different versions along the way. My copy does not include the curved rail that you found. Mine has the usual straight fife rail. I had hoped for a more complete set of drawings to be included. Bill.
  4. I like the idea. After you go to all that work on the gun deck only to cover it up could be a little disheartening. Maybe scribe some deck lines on the poly and blacken them to help with the feel.
  5. I know exactly what you mean. I like to do some occasional wood working and the same thing happens there. That is one reason I'm starting off with some simple models first before tackling this one. ( I did get this one too not long ago, along with a couple of other simple wood kits.) I think it takes some practices to get the techniques down. Update: I wanted to add that I think you're off to a good start. It's looking really good so far.
  6. Stern looks good too. Isn't that the suggested stern by Blue Jacket? I know they based the model on a lot of work by Arnot so it is probably pretty close to what you want. My kit is the 1970's version that I hope to update to something close to the modern version like yours. This will mean carving or routing out space for the gun deck. Since on that version the gun deck guns were simply pins you pushed into the hull. I'd prefer a built out deck like the new kit.
  7. You can still buy his book, "How to make a Clipper Ship Model" from Amazon. It is based on one of the series of articles from the 1920's. I was able to find a copy that still had the plans in the back. The model he describes is Donald McKay's Sovereign of Seas.
  8. I don't know about a build log for the 24 inch model. It is more for practice. I was thinking I might for some of the wood models I'm planning to build at some point.
  9. Thanks for the feedback. I don't plan to use the plastic sails either. I might attempt adding a wood deck since I'm not very good at painting. Looked at the Scaled deck website and they don't offer one at this scale.
  10. I recenly bought a Revell kit of the Cutty Sark off ebay on a whim. Model number H368. This is the 24 inch version of the model. I've seen quite a few pictures of smaller models ( mostly wood) and the larger 1/96 (3 ft) model. I like the size of the model. 24 inches is large enough to show detail but not so large as to dominate the whole room. Has anyone built this kit? Looking for pics and pointers. Thanks
