Thanks Mike, I appreciate you stepping up, now I'll have to find out if Syren sends to Europe.
Your lines do look good, easily seen as you have nice sharp closeups. I agree with you too, not every single thing has to be absolute top notch as lots of lesser quality items and areas are only seen with a camera.
I'll follow your project along towards completion.
Greetings, Michael

Hey Mike - thanks for looking in. The ropes are a mixture from the kit and Syren Model Ship Co. Blocks. deadeyes and hearts as well. Most of the long runs are the Syren rope. Cheap guy that I am, a lot of the short and inner runs are from the kit. If you could notice from the pix, you have a good eye. The Syren products, particularly rope, is a step above anything else out there.

Hello Mike,
That's a fine looking model, you've done well, I really like.
Question please: The lines you show for the rigging, I suppose these aren't those supplied with the kit. They look a lot better than anything I've ever had. Could you give some insight?
Greetings, Michael

I believe rigging is almost over. I'm at a point where I don't plan on adding any additional lines. I need to go back and tighten a few of the first ropes I put on. Already done 2 and broke them both. Meaning they had to be reinstalled with all the other rigging in place.
I'm still working on the coils for the belay pins. I'm not real happy with how they are coming out. Rather then throwing the whole coil over the pin, I've gone back to looping the fall thru and around the coil and then looping that part over the pin - at least for now.
No pix until I can figure out how to get some decent shots. I'm tired of all the crappy looking pix.
So I'm about to get into clean up mode. Finding all the unfinished odds & ends, like brass eyebolts that need painting. The other thing I need to start is getting all the dust & bugs off. My shop is the garage and she has spent some time 'on the shelf' so there's plenty of nastiness around. I guess just small brushes and a lot of compressed air.
I need to go ahead and put in the order for the display case. Not looking forward to that bill
Yup, starting to sound like this one will be done in a few weeks.

Right on with your comment about the fore & aft rigging and sails. It really gives one a shot at the whole she-bang and if you have to redo something it's not a terrible thing. Keep the pix coming Don.

Awesome, Don! I really like the sails. Great job on a very interesting model.

Thanks Robin, the finish I use is satin wipe on poly. MarisStella has a few "under the radar" kits big and small, they are real fine quality kits.

Don, I really...really...very much...like this build.
It's not a ship of the line...a more humble vessel...and so it's perhaps sailing under the radar (that makes sense?), but, boy oh boy...it's a beauty!
May I ask? what type of varnish did you use? semi-gloss? It looks wonderful.
Robin

You sails look absolutely fantastic!! It also reminds me why I use furled sails.
Great work with the sowing and all your other techniques.
Cheers.

Hello All, Thanks for visiting, for all the likes and the awesome comments. Well I have the stern area completely finished with the sail, all rigging and rope coils also did a little clean up. I will say that installing sails is lots of work, and there is only three of them, they are starting to grow on me. I would say, though, if you are thinking about sails to start with a fore and aft craft as the rigging is a lot less complex and it will give you a taste to whether or not you will enjoy installing sails.
Enough with the oratory, here are some pictures of what's been going on:
The end is getting closer, next up is the fore sail and finish off the bow area. The next couple of days will be spent on the Stefano and another project so I'll see you soon.
Thanks Again

Mike: Thanks, yes they are a lot of work, however, I am starting to really enjoy the looks of them
Michael: While watching your build of the Wasa this comes as quite a compliment. Thanks

Don,
Really nice work. Learned a lot about sails looking at your work (too late however haha) Also wished I had seen that parrel mounting detail about three days ago haha again too late.
Very nice project as well as excellent research.
Cheers,

Great work Don, I'm glad that you are adding sails to her. Sails take a lot of work though, don't they? I only added furled sails to my Badger, but it took me a lot of research and experimentation to get to where I was happy with them.

Hey Don - are there telltales on both sides of the sail? It's worth spending a little time trying to get a consistent angle and shape to them. You can keep them off the sail but stiffen them with some beeswax or glue/water. Or you can lay them to the sail which is typically how they would be if the sail is trimmed properly. In most cases they will all point/lay in the same direction.

Sorry about that I clicked the wrong button too soon.
So this how the last posting goes: First picture is showing where to trim sail, second picture is showing the tape I used for the hems, third picture is showing after being trimmed and the forth is showing the wire that was inserted into the outside edges.
Ok, now that I got my mind together:
Sail hemmed with the iron on tape
Marking holes to sew on bolt rope
Kringles made from serving some wire then shaping on a dowel
Completed sail, still needs the little ropes at the top ironed, what is the name for these ropes?
And up next is to make a couple parrels
Have a Good Day everyone and Thanks for all the likes and comments
