Canute reacted to ccoyle in Bristol Bulldog by Danstream - Airfix - 1/48 - PLASTIC
Sorry, the 'there' in my post was in reference to my sneaking in the English spelling of color. I haven't actually built a British aircraft in any of those schemes, though I do have one in my stash (Hawker Nimrod).

Could you address me to where? I don't remember a build of yours with these schemes.

Canute reacted to Danstream in Fokker D.VII by ccoyle - FINISHED - Kartonowa Kolekcja - 1/33 - CARD
I didn't comment this build before, but I am catching up now. This is a great representation of a Fokker DVII, very carefully assembled as usual and which hardly gives away its paper-made nature. I love how you molded the louvres of the cowlings.
I made a WnW model several years ago and I got to love this plane.
Congratulations,
Dan

Canute got a reaction from Danstream in Convair B-58 Hustler by Javlin - Mongram - 1/48 - Plastic
I'm in, too. I got to see a real one, back in the summer of 1969, at an air show. The beast sat very high off the deck, to keep the 4 J79s well clear of the ground. LG looked spindly, compared to the KC-135 it was sitting next to it. Noisy takeoff the next day.

Yves, you described what the F-4 is. A refrigerator strapped between two J-79s, going Mach 2. 😄

You might check on the bigger on-line shops. They may have a better price.

Love the way the colors work. Red is always tough, but your pink base coat works well. And the seat harness looks great. 👍

The coloring on this kit is really very good, and I agree that the plane has pleasing lines -- unlike, say, the SB2C, which I also have in my stash. I like the early-war light blue over gray scheme, and I already had suitable edge coloring paints left over from my F4F-4 build. The blue just needed a little lightening. The 30-pen set I purchased earlier from AK included a shade called "deck tan" which is a pretty close match for the underside gray of this kit.

Chris, this is superb. And what a treat to not have to paint: I find that to be the most difficult (for me) in building a model.
I truly love the look and proportions of that Vindicator, done in an era where planes were designed to really fly and not just be a cockpit pushed by big engines (basically a rock when the engine shut down).

Canute reacted to realworkingsailor in Chevrolet C15a FFW by realworkingsailor - IBG Models - 1/35 - PLASTIC
Good to see you back hanging around this quaint little part of the internet! You gotta love the peace and quiet!
I think in the grand scheme of things, even though it’s showing its age, Tamiya have taken good care of their old toolings.
The IBG kit, on the other hand, is light years ahead in terms of the level of detail. Some of the parts are incredibly fine in cross section. The body and fender panels are about as close to scale thickness as you can reasonably expect to get using injection moulded plastic. It remains to be seen how robust these toolings will be in the long run.
I think that’s probably why I ended up with the short shot on the cab floor part, so thin that the plastic cooled too quickly before it could fill all of the mould cavities.
Anyway, welcome back!
Andy

hello Andy...........thought I'd pop in and see what your doing while I keep telling myself I should invest in armor kits, I seem to keep buying war ships, cars and planes. I agree with your view of the molds that make these kits........some have been passed around so much. the 1:72 stuka dive bomber is a good example. I believe the molds started out with Fujimi {hope I spelt it right}, and through the years, past hands to at least four other model manufacturers. the amount of flash is a good indicator as to how old a mold is. too much and they get retooled. some are different subjects, but are the same kit. cars do it too..........look at the older models and you'll see it. great job so far............I'm keen to follow

I see you caught the fever too. I'm not done with my 1:72 Leopold.........I had to box it up due to the flooding at the apartment {2023}. recently, an opportunity to purchase a larger scale of Leopold was presented to me, and I got it. OMG!!!! the size is staggering! unfortunately, I can't see a lot of your pictures, but it might be on my end. what I see though looks really good, with a lot of cool detail. following with interest.

I just bought that kit on Da-Bay a few weeks ago. Always wanted to build that monster and ominous beast.
Following your build will be very helpful. I have purchased the metal landing gears from Valiant Enterprises ($20). It may be a better fit for this large and heavy plane and perhaps you should consider it, too.
