Go here and hit "Wood Samples": http://www.dlumberyard.com/wood.html There's a listing for Alaskan Cedar.
You can also go here: http://www.wood-database.com/ where numerous cedars are listed.

Thank you, Mark; that saves a bit of effort on my part. The wood I bought is identical to the pictures in wood-database.com.

mrjimmy got a reaction from WackoWolf in 3D models of the project
First of all, thank you to Christian for bringing these pics out from the archives. Don (Hermann??) drew the original drawings using some sort of Cad. For the life of me, I can't remember who made all of the 3-D drawings. If my memory ever returns, I will post it. He also finished, along with another draftsman or two, many of the detail drawings.
These 3-D drawings, plus the others I have posted, are invaluable when constructing the ship. A round of applause for the Architects......

mrjimmy got a reaction from ziled68 in H.M.S. Triton 1:48 scale cross section - FINISHED
Thank you, Ray, that was exactly what I needed to know. I have been playing around with several different gauges of wire to make ringbolts and hooks for a 1:48 model I am building, and I felt that yours were fairly close to the right size for that scale. Thanks again for your help.

mrjimmy got a reaction from Pierretessier in Soaking, bending, gluing planks
Hey.........
Try using some birch hardwood planks. Soak them for about a half hour, clamp in place and leave it to dry or use Mama's blow dryer. It will stay in the position you set it in. After you soak it in water for a while, you can probably tie it in a knot.

Hey......
You are one vastly talented lady, Sherry! I have seen some of the artwork you have posted, so was not surprised to see your carvings. Nice work.
