Although I only ever knew Eddie through this forum,I had grown very fond of him.
Eddie,I will sadly miss your upbeat humour and get on with attitude. It has been an honour to have you as my friend even if it has been for a short period.
    Rest in peace Eddie

I am deeply saddened to hear this news and offer Eddie's family my deepest condolences

Perhaps it would be a nice gesture if someone nearby finished the ship for them as a present to the family?

Scale. One is twice the size of the other (somebody asked me for different scale version). I am going to upgrade this one, too, as hind legs are too close together (space between them is too narrow). You can see that in 3d view (blue box icon).

Beauty of Shapeways lies in fact that you order as many parts as you want, so I do not have to plan ahead or "bind" anybody to buy this or that much. If one wants to equip all his decks with "my" cannons- he can order any configuration he wants. If just for a top deck- same. Person buying from them orders prints, that's it, I do not have to set up anything (and that's how I like it). I am just happy to design parts that can come handy, since it helps me, too.

Thank you.Yes I shall wait until you have completed the project and printed some prototypes.I would rather wait anyway so I can assess what alterations I plan before commencing assembly. If you are intending to produce a full range of the complete cannons,I may well consider the option, subject to cost as I was planing on some alterations to the skeleton design,so adding internal decks does not pose a big problem.I was planning on changing the supplied dummy cannons anyway as they are so short, they offer little scope for modification to the standard kit design.

To have some rest (and fun) I did a mortar for Santissima. It is 1/90, 24 lbs, 2.7 cm long little thingie. Hope you will like it.

Since I am greedy, I added 3E to price of each piece- you can get it here: http://shpws.me/qfXa

So... I have made a full set of cannons for Santissima. 8 pounder, 12, 18 and 24/36 (same barrell lenght). THEORETICALLY they should print with all hooks and pieces.

If I were you I'd wait till you see photos of prints- after all they can be worthless (I do not think so but you loose nothing by playing it safe). Now dummy cannons is an interesting subject. It was very uncommon for ship to sail with all gunports open, so for my own build I am just going to have all of them sealed (I want it to be a diorama of Santissima on anchor) BUT if you (or anybody else for that matter) want to do "dummies"- I can make a fake, "closed" gunport with a part of gun (or even entire one), to be glued from inside. That way you would have a clean solution, probably better then what's proposed by kit designer and still not requiring extensive modification or creation of additional decks.

Thank you very much for wishes and all the best to you and your family. May your sea be calm and your shores smooth.

Looks great, Brian! Which part of Melbourne are you in? I wouldn't mind having a look at the kit. The Euromodel Royal William is on my bucket list.

NMBROOK got a reaction from WackoWolf in Why is this kit so expensive?
In the Uk all the big kits listed above are all pitched at a similar price,Sergal SOTS,Soleil Royal,Vasa and Corel Wappen von Hamburg. The equivalent of about $1100,so at the offer price of $579,that is a steal and probably cost price.

A little update - Been working on the gunport lids.Starboard side upper row done.Work on the ship has slowed considerably - blew out something in my shoulder that will require surgery after the first of the year. Can still do some of the small things but not much else. Happy Holidays to everyone at MSW & thanks for looking in.

Mike - as you know, this is my current construction and more than any other Euromodel build, it has dragged me further into a quasi scratch build using some supplemental material which I did not have to use but could not help myself. An absolutely fascinating experience to extend past a straight kit build.

Some very nice gear.I have to echo what others have said though,it is almost one of those 'what is wrong with this' pictures.Mill isn't bolted down, and some serious security issues.Definately Christmas for the budding thief.I live in the UK,but still have double glazing and insulation in the workshop.

    Hi.
    Yes a nice setup.
Axminister is a OK brand and I have used there equipment in a professional mode.
Nice to see you wearing wraparound safety glasses.
I have all my machines except the Proxxon mill in my shed.
Have insulated the walls and have a heater to keep out the English damp weather.
I have got to agree with Nigel.. The mill should be bolted down.

    Regards Antony.

    Hi everyone,

Wishing all of you a happy Christmas, holiday season, and a great New Year. Its been a very special year for me especially after joining MSW in February. I have had the privilege of making many internet friends. Friendships with people whom I would have not had the opportunity of meeting in my life, but with whom I have established a very nice closeness through our mutual hobby. I have learned so much, but I have appreciated my new friends even more. Thanks to all of you.

    Sincerely,

    Michael
