maltbyguy got a reaction from Canute in Help my boat is bent !
Thanks Antony and Clare for your advise the only thought I had was that the deck would look odd if where the planks were nibbed intp the margin plank they would be out of sync port/starboard
but i think that would be less noticable when covered by the guns etc than the centre furniture not looking correct
Sorry Antony I havn't done a build log I have some photo's so maybe I should
Thanks

Hi l am looking for advice I am planking the deck of my Syran model and it is bent !
Do I follow the bend with the planks or do I start with a straight line from the center of the bow to the center of the stern
I am thinking of going for the latter
It is approximately one planks width out in the center
Thanks Andy

Bluenose2,
I think it will be much much cheaper to dispose the drill and get another one than having it re-shaped.
Think I could some 20+ drills for some the shop price, or even more...

maltbyguy got a reaction from Canute in 1970's Billing Boats Wasa Help
just a thought
I am sort of building the same kit that I bought from E bay a problem I had was that there was no fittings with it (they were sold seperatly on early Billings kits)
Billings do not supply them as seperate items anymore and they are a MAJOR part of the finished model if you don't have them then I would strongly suggest that you either buy a new complete kit and pretend it is your grandads but as been said before the Wasa isn'y realy a good first model and I think you will get very disheartened and maybe put off the wonderful hobby we all (mostly) enjoy

Hi all sorry I haven't posted for a while but things have been a bit busy at work and with family and as I have said before I tend to be a bit of a lurker often on the site but not very often posting . I guess we are all our own worst critics but I never feel that my work stands up to criticism compared to the excellent work shown on the site.
But here goes with a few pictures of my work so far

hi I have just caught up with your build very impressive so far
Just a quick question how much did it cost to import the wood package and did you get stung for customs like I did with my kits from the USA

Hi all
I thought I had better post an update on progress
when I last was on I had just started on some of the deck furniture doors and ladders etc.
These are all now made fitted and painted so I have made a start with the planking so far it has been quite straight forward with no really nasty bends that a 10 minute soak in hot water won't cure
I have now realised that there needs to be a method of supporting the dummy cannons so work has stopped and my thinking cap has been dug out again
I have been looking at the excellent build logs thanks guys for all your help and pictures I will post more pictures when I have sorted the cannon problem out
Andy
